Where did he make all his f##king money? I know very little other than he's a UK DJ and was married to Billie Piper but I saw him on Top Gear and he paid 12 million pounds for some car.

This is the only book of his i've read - he had an autobiography out which i'm sure will reveal more - this one is about all the adventures he had with spending and losing his money. He has been a high profile dj and also tv presenter (he was everywhere in the 90's) I suppose he started off being paid shitloads just because everyone wanted his name linked to them. He also has/had his own production company... And he's actually a really clever bloke.

He wrote about the purchase of the car in this book. It was simply something he dreamed of having. He couldn't really afford it, but he didn't worry about that when he bid on it lol

the book was great. If I ever have as much money as he had, I would totally want to do all the live-for-today, bonkers, exciting stuff he has done.

I am reading Orson Scott Card's "Speaker For The Dead", second book in the Ender series.

The first book from that series is amazing, still love it to bits. The second one takes some time to take off, but when it does, it's another great story.

Ender's Game from Wikipedia;

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...der's_Game

Set in Earth's future, the novel presents an imperiled humankind who have barely survived two conflicts with the Formics (an insectoid alien species normally called "Buggers" by most of the population). These aliens show an ant-like group behavior, and are very protective of their leader, much like Earth ants protecting their queen. In preparation for an anticipated third invasion, an international fleet maintains a school to find and train future fleet commanders. The world's most talented children, including the novel's protagonist, Ender Wiggin, are taken at a very young age to a training center known as the Battle School. There, teachers train them in the arts of war through increasingly difficult games including ones undertaken in zero gravity in the Battle Room where Ender's tactical genius is revealed.

Speaker For The Dead;

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...r_the_Dead

Speaker for the Dead (1986) is a science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card and an indirect sequel to the novel Ender's Game. This book takes place around the year 5270, some 3,000 years after the events in Ender's Game. However, due to relativistic space travel Ender himself (who now goes by his real name Andrew Wiggin or by his title "Speaker for the Dead") is only about 35 years old.

And it was a great read. I'm looking for something else to hold my attention...the Miles Davis one might interest me. Have you finished reading it yet? If so, was it interesting?

Just finished Louis L'Amour's "Last of the Breed". OMG, what a great book.

The hero is a 100% certified badass.

I've now read 87 L'Amour books and 4 Clarence Mulford books over the last 18 months or so.

It seems like every other customer at Barnes & Noble buys it.... or "Fifty Shades Darker" (II)... or "Fifty Shade Freed" (III).

I still have no interest in it, despite all the raves. shrug

Ivy, are you enjoying it? smile

It's just "ok" so far. Someone gave me all 3 books so I'll be reading them all over the next week.

I read Philip Dick's Ubik this weekend - the third novel I've read of his in the past few weeks, and I'd say this was the best one. Very mind-bendy as always, some moments that genuinely surprised me and a pretty neat, tidy ending.

I started Holldobler and Wilson's Journey to the Ants this morning. It's a great read so far, though it goes over a lot of territory I've explored already, and a great looking book - lots of very nice images.

I'm reading Lisey's Story by Stephen King. I noticed that the bookmark was only about 1/3 of the way in, but I don't remember why I stopped. So I just started over...

But I'm waiting for"City of the Dead" by Brian Keene, the sequel to the last one I read (reply #2): .

If you haven't read Persuasion, I recommend it as a follow-up. That is my favorite Austen novel (and I've read all of them).

I started reading it a while ago, but never finished. I found it again and I just started over. It's a beautiful story so far.

I've heard so much about Jane Austen that I simply had to read it for myself. I'm sure after I finish Pride And Prejudice, I'll look into her other works. I'm sure with your recommendation, it's worth the read. smile
