You know who directed that Chanel ad don't you?

Yes - Ridley Scott.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I picture is definately worth a thousand words

Even when people were bad in the 1970's (outside of the rise of the serial killer) everything still seemed so innocent

1.)Watching Fantasy Island

2.) James(correction Roger) Moore James Bond of the 1970's. It was always a thrill watching those, parents really love James Bond movies

3.) Parents disco house parties

4.) Carrolls fast food

You mean Roger Moore!

oops, I don't know who I was thinking off

Electric Company: 1,2,3 song = "Tambourine" by Prince.

Wouldn't this be a great style video for Tambourine, but with darker colors and glows?

morningsong

A mountain of tv show

Bugles, pop rocks, drumstick ice cream cones, and all those treats that seem to taste so different now.

Sitting with my aunt watching the stories

singing those stupid songs on the school bus

learning swahili

having all those homemade go cart races up and down the street

talking to my boyfriend from our windows next door at night

my dog budget, he was the best dog I ever had

all those damned skits me and my friends would make up and torture our parents into watching

my drawings

hanging out at the library that use to be down the street

making my poison bean necklaces, they were pretty, and all my friends on my street got one.

eating those berries and "african apples" back and forth from school

the neighborhood kids

the guy that lived behind us, who'd stand out on his back porch and sing "Reasons", cause the acoustics were so good.

dammit, how could I forget. my discovery of prince.

I was born in the 80's

but here are the only things of the 70's I miss about the 70's

a) 70's rock

b) 70's funk

c) men using cuban heels and beautiful (not stiff/predictable) suits

d) Woody Allen's early weird/madcap/brainy comedies (69-77), before he became a bad copy of Bergman/Capra...

e) sports stars being stars due to their successes and dedication, not because of their money/publicity contracts...

that's all

since I don't have personal/sweet/subjective memories of that decade, I have to say that I see the 70's as a very harsh/dark decade (no offense): Nixon's betrayal, Carter's innoperance, Brezhnev posing as a good guy and the world believing the farce, the fall of Saigon, Vietnam veterans being ignored, Roger Moore as 007 James Bond, street crime, rich pimps, granny cinematography, generalized drug-abuse (a legacy of the 60's), the fat/depressed/pseudo-republican Elvis, downbeat vigilante movies, a truckload of nihilistic/cheap Hollywood films posing as "high art", bad economy, ugly flat cars, a shitload of know-it-all/I-feel-so-blue singer-songwriters, many people dancing way too much without giving a damn about anything else, etc. ugh... confused

For someone who was born in the 80s you sure do know a lot about the 70s.

They might´ve been harsh and dark in the USA (bad economy, high crime rate especially in NYC, bad cars around the second half of that decade).....but, to be honest, I remember them as a good time, at least over here.

The things I didn´t like were personal things, rarely political stuff or the economy. Then again, I was just a kid.

Do you dislike Woody Allen´s latest movies? Including Matchpoint and Vicky, Cristina Barcelona?
