So are the French still accusing us (Team GB) of cheating in the cycling? One of out chaps told a French newspaper that we use "specially round wheels". The French fell for it. Chris Hoy said, "Well you've got to upset someone. It may as well be the French." Wonderful stuff! Lol!

The irony being that the "specially round wheels" we use are of French manufacture. Imbéciles débiles wink

But well done USA, let's hope you keep the Chinese in 2nd!!! Cheating bastards the lot of them.

You don't like being accused but no problem accusing? Rather hypocritical.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

It's the privilege that comes with being British. Hypocritical arrogance. Of course if you're British you'd see it as humour. And every country likes to wind up its' neighbours surely? Of course the French team being unaware of aerodynamics kept the string of onions about their necks which probably gave us the advantage. Well the lack of onions and "specially round wheels" tease

Second, fuck China AND North Korea. I don't even think they should be allowed to be there. Their human rights records are frighteningly attrocious and the stuff that happens to their athletes who DON'T succeed is highly questionable. Do some searching and reading about it if you're unaware.

Overall medals? What's that shit about? Oh yeah, USA is the only country that does it on that system. Everyone else measures it by golds! What if one country had 100 bronze medals and nothing else?

Are you British?

LOL
It's about medals awarded?

What Olympic medal count counts only gold?

U.S. still leads in gold so whatever for whomever, they're still looking up at the U.S.

100 Bronze medals is still 100 Olympic medals is it not?

EVERY other country measures by golds. I did however nitice a US news outlet changing the way they measured it depending on what would put them on top when they were neck and neck with China though. Now USA has undoubtedly won, but it wasn't that way last week.

Everybody else uses metric too. What's the point? Amerricans can be different? Doesn't make it wrong.

I don't know how others were measuring. I used the same site for all results, to ensure the methodology would be consistent.

Feel free to measure by gold and that placed Team GB in third for gold but still fourth in overall medals.

I don't know any country that only counts gold medals as Olympic medals but . . . . . .

the fourth quarter was the key

the USA did what they had to do after a dreadful second quarter and a "not good enough" third quarter, considering that they were facing the second best team in the world...

I burned out on Thursday. I'd been watching about twelve hours a day up to that point and I just couldn't do it anymore. Started only watching certain events (like basketball), or recording large blocks and fastforwarding through all the stuff I didn't want to see. Not sure I really care about the closing ceremonies.

I think this is the final medal count. U.S. only nation to top triple digits in number of medals.

First overall, first in gold and silver, second to Russia in bronze.

China second in gold and overall.

Team GB, third in gold, but fourth in overall medals, trailing Russia by 17 medals.

Russia is fourth in gold but third in overall medals, 5 behind China.

I totally agree - this is boring ass shit! Ryan Seacrest is the icing on top of this bland pudding.

I like the Kaiser Chiefs - but why not get Daltry and Townsend for god's sake? What, are they too busy? And this multi-cover band doing Pink Floyd now... disbelief

At 10:00 I am switching over to Conedy Central for the Roseanne Barr roast.

OK - Russell Brand singing Willy Wonka? And now Beatles?

I'm turning the channel NOW!
