You may like the celebration of british music from the 60s and thoughout decades to the present, I thought that was pretty good.

When the athletes came out from all different countries, and obviously UK came out last anyway when they were parading with roar of cheers from the audience and the PM etc, they put the camera on the Queen she was looking and picking at her nails, Prince Phillip was read the brochure. I think they wanna go home. falloff

On the one hand, I'm really bummed out that Chicago won't be hosting the 2016 Olympic games, sad bawl but I'm psyched that Rio de Janeiro is hosting the games that year. woot! clapping It's about time that Africa and South America host the Olympic games.

I saw clips of the Parade of Nations during my local evening news, but here in the good ole USA, we'll be getting a tape delayed airing of the Opening Ceremonies. Anyone watching the games on the network channels will most likely see events which already happened and see sob stories of Olympic athletes who grew up being raised by wolves and had to travel 20 miles through two feet of snow up a mountain just to get to the training facility to practice their gymnastics/swimming/boxing/judo/etc. sigh rolleyes But the cable channels will probably air most of the live events.

It's 7:30 here so it's on now... biggrin

I am sure it will be very interesting what with showcasing British history and all...I just wish NBC could have come up with better hosts than Brokaw and Costas, bored

Yay! The Parade of Nations. woot! The one time every two years where people check their atlases or Wikipedia to find out where some of the other smaller nations are.

I think most people have issues identifying the west and central African Nations, the island nations off the west and east coast of Africa, the South Pacific island nations, and the Stans (Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan, Kyrgyzstan).
