Microsoft Vista: Mother&%$#! 0x00000e9 error

I hate this machine (HP Pavillion / OS Vista II) ever since I bought 4 years ago.... damn near obsolete going out the mother^%$@! door of Best Buy. Excuse my language, but cussing for the last two weeks has been very therapeutic. boxed

The good news is wasn't much on it that was very important, most of it was backed up, and the rest Ubuntu 8.10 allowed me to access my HDD and transfer my data to a USB. The bad news kinda, its been awhile since I've backed up iTunes; I transfered my entire music file over to my external hard drive. Hoping that when I put the new HDD in I'll be able to "drop" the old iTunes music folder into IiTunes. Has anyone done this before?

Windows Vista? I detest it with a passion and I'm glad to be rid of it!

If I ever meet Bill gates I will kick the crap out of him because of Vista.

I would love to call Vista a rush-job to catchup to Mac OS-X's interface elements, but unfortunately, Vista was actually years in the making. It makes it all the more perplexing that it was so ill conceived in many aspects.

However, I think the vast majority of problems with Vista complaints are due to PC manufacturers and driver issues. HP has taken enormous shortcuts in every conceivable way over the last decade (I believe they ousted a CEO a couple years back as part of their 'fix' to many of their issues). It used to be that HP laptops were really sound, but I wouldn't trust one now.

Why not just upgrade to Windows 7? I've seen it in action, and though I detest that stupid aero-glass interface, I found it to be very intuitive for the most part. PLus the Windows explorer is just far nicer (if uglier) than the Mac finder feature.

Windows 7 with Firefox (including ad, pop-up and Flash blockers) and Comcast's free Norton is tits.

I don't know anything about your iTunes question, though. Sorry.

Hell, my desktop was running XP up until a year ago when I upgraded to win7. I never even considered Vista because of the nightmare of using it on my laptop.

Just gimmie five minutes with Gates...five minutes! stab

I've upgraded my computers in the last 8 months: HP Beats / Apple MacBook Pro. My plans were to keep my iTunes Music on the Vista and an old XP machines... music varies between the two notebooks sharing my music between all 4 computers. Oops. lol

This computer sucks all around HP hardware included. I have one of those models that couldn't upgrade to Windows 7 because of HP hardware and their unwillingness to develop drivers to support Windows 7. I bought the damn machine during one of those Best Buy Sunday sales... never a mother%$#@! again. You get what you pay for. When I get the new HDD I dual boot it with Linxu Mint.

I thought I'd never own a PC again then the Chrome store opened up. Maybe I'll get one of those Chrome notebooks too; anyone have any experience with them? Thanks.

I'm going to try using Firefox again, it so different then what I'm use to; I'm such a creature of habit I don't like to move out of my comfort zone.

Yeah Microsoft got over with Windows Vista. I brought a Toshiba Laptop with Vista and the thing sucked. Toshiba laptops are pretty good, Just not the ones running Vista. Also, it wasn't able to upgrade to win 7 as well. Hp Laptops are known for having faulty parts though. Especially ones from the Dv6000's series.

As for the iTunes songs. I'm pretty sure all you need to do is transfer the old iTunes folder to the new one, then authorize the new computer(or hard drive)to play the songs.

OK. After I threw a tantrum and raised my blood pressure, I was able to do a system restore. lol Needless to say I don't trust this HDD so I've backed up everything. whew Any recommendations on HDD? I'm willing to try other brands/manufacturers. In the past I've used General Dynamics... I think that's the name of the HDD.

Do you download, Arrrrgh! style?

If you do, since you have multiple computers I'd make sure everything is backed up safely, wipe the hard drive and reinstall a new version of Vista or Windows 7 (preferably the later if it's compatible with the PC). If you don't Arrrrgh!, I don't know. I've never had major hard drive problems. They've always lasted until I purchased a new PC.

I'm sorry for those who bought Vista

I decided to wait until the "upgraded" version (Win 7) which at least is decent

that said, I just wanted to add that Windows 7 Internet Explorer may be the most evil thing Microsoft ever created, Chrome saved my ass...

Bill Gates hasn't been at Microsoft on a day-to-day level since LONG before Vista. He's spent much of the last decade spending millions of his own money on humanitarian efforts, curing AIDS in Africa and things like that. So nobody needs to be mad at him.

Blame this guy:

Steve Ballmer. He's been running Microsoft for over a decade now.

And yeah, Vista is a piece of shit. Upgrade to Windows 7 ASAP. It's the best computer operating system out there. Ubuntu 12.04 is pretty great too.

Thanks. Now I can kick the crap outta both of them because Bill shouldn't have left this fool in charge...he looks like Curly from the Three Stooges, lol
