I just can't wrap my head around the fact that so many people believe all that non-fat/lite crap. All it takes is common sense and a little bit of research.

The thing is - when you take all the fat out, food is no longer satisfying. It has no flavor. And, because it's all carbs, a) it doesn't fill you up and b) actually makes you hungrier in the long run (because of the insulin hit). So people end up eating a lot more than they would otherwise.
Instead of scarfing down Snackwells (a brand of disgusting, non-fat snacks sold in the states), folks would be better off saving up for a really amazing treat that's actually worth it. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Low-Fat Salad Dressing Isn't Necessarily The Healthiest Option, Purdue Study Shows
What could be healthier than a salad? The raw vegetables and fruits that comprise the foundation of any healthful bowl are chock-full of vitamins, nutrients, fiber and water -- all things your body needs to function optimally. And while you might think you're doing yourself a favor by adding a low- or no-fat dressing atop your pile of leafy greens, the truth is that these diet options may be preventing you from getting the full benefit of many of the nutrients that make salad such a good choice

One thing you will never find in my house is bottled dressing. It's so easy to make your own - and much healthier.
Today, my salad dressing is a homemade buttermilk ranch. Buttermilk, mayo, a little Lakeshore Drive seasoning from The Spice House, fresh thyme (French and lemon), lemon basil and chives. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I went through this program a few years ago through Sharp Medical Health Plan. I was on the HMR 70, about 500 non-dairy calories a day, sometimes more, for 12 weeks. I was very diligent, no cheating. I had weekly medical monitoring and classes which I learned a whole lot of valuable information I still use today. I didn't lose as much as I hoped, but I lost a fair amount. I've bounced up and down but never have gotten up to were I was nor down to where I want to be, so I still struggle.
I've read the Omnivore Dilemna by Michael Pollen and a few of his other books, and I'm trying to move closer to that mentality, because I don't see me cutting out certain types of foods, and I am a true omnivore even though I wouldn't call myself a foodie, I have too many dislikes for that.
Exercise is a major issue, I have an excercise bike I use but if I get a long-term ache like days of back pain which I'm not use to, I stop then starting up again gets rough.

I lost a lot of weight in 2001 and kept it all off until 2007 when it started creeping back up on me little by little until it all came back.
Anyway, I ate once a day as soon as I got off work at 5:00 p.m. I did away with all fried foods, I tried to eat strictly either baked fish or baked chicken. I ate vegetables such as greens, string beans, cabbage, etc. without cornbread. I ate Subway sandwiches sometimes either turkey or ham on wheat bread without the cheese or mayonnaise. I basically starved the hell out of myself. People used to tell me all the time...."You can eat more than what you're eating and eat more variety but you need to exercise".....Fuck that, I did no excercise whatsoever and still lost 100 pounds in less than a year. I tried exercise once or twice and said fuck that, I'd rather starve to lose weight than go through that. Although, I did use to shake plenty of ass every Friday and Saturday night in the clubs (they at least played some decent music back then, couldn't do it now though because it's so slow you'd actually gain weight if you tried to dance to it ).
The only thing that inspired me to keep going was I was getting more dicks than I had ever had in my life. I was getting a different dick every weekend and sometimes two different dicks every weekend. Then I started having threesomes, foursomes, and fivesomes. I tell ya, if you're a whore, the more dicks you get, you'll really stick to that diet.
In 2007 though, when my mother got sick and then eventually died a few months later, I gradually started back eating again and the depression of that, as well as fighting with family members, and having more money problems, I just said fuck it, I've got enough problems without worrying about this damn weight in my every waking hour because believe me, in order to keep it off, it's an ongoing 24/7 thing and I just lost the desire to be that miserable all the time because food is enjoyable especially when you're going through some mess. I´ve been eating tons of bad stuff lately. In fact, I´m eating a huge, whole pizza and a bag of potato chips as I´m typing this. I can lose weight pretty fast but I´ve been under enormous stress these days and didn´t really care. But I will go to the gym in a few minutes. Haven´t been there for 9 days!
Cycling (to the gym), a tough workout plus a visit to the steam room. Can´t wait to get there. As far as weight loss is concerned, avoiding sugars and simple carbs has always helped me to get rid of body fat very quickly. And sleep is also important. It goes without saying that exercise is very crucial, too. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

not secrets, but obviousnesses...
a) stop ingesting industrial crap (if that's the case), including beer, M&M's, hamburgers...
b) only 3 meals a day (strong breakfast, moderate dinner, very light supper). And yes, if you feel pain in the stomach, DEAL with it, lol . If you can't STAND the pain (), then indulge yourself with some macrobiotic bread or something like that...
c) exercise, specially running, you have to sweat, you have to burn the fat, you have to remove the rust from the muscles...
d) keep in mind that the results usually appear after 2 months of serious diet/exercise...

Bread is the main culprit for me, I think.
I am not fat, but if I eat a sandwich or some pizza or anything with bread I look pregnant for a day or two. My Legacy

that line is pure wisdom
but, I think I've also read/heard the "king/gent/pauper" version...

Well, hell I might as well through in my favorite. Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.
All that crap is difficult when you can just grab something on the fly, though. Old habits and all. Heck, just don't get fat in the first place and you won't have to worry about it, gain 3 lbs. lose that mess immediately.

LOL - I didn't make this up. It was popular about 10 years ago, I think it was called 'the white diet'. I tried it and lost 20 pounds in about a month - which I thought was too much too fast - but hey most everything white is carb / sugar / fat - so it pretty much makes sense.
i still curb much of this list and combined with portion control and exercise seems to be key.

Stop eating immedietly when you feel full, never refill your plate or get something else (I.E desert), don't eat anything high in fats or sugar for 6 days a week, on one day eat whatever you want (still abiding the other rules), and exercise 45-60 minutes for 4 times a week. Oh and the most important rule for me is to either skip lunch or have a small snack around lunchtime.

my secret? i became vegetarian, lost it in no time. cut out soda and cream and sugar including sweetners except honey. drink tea and eat crystallised ginger. and something with tomato, be it stir through or raw tomato.

I know you're right
I agree with it to some degree, but I tend to allow for potatoes. I can't see how they could be bad unless they are covered in butter...but then if they are not, why would i want to eat one?
Also, white rice may be a no-no for some, but it never makes me feel overly full or boated like bread does.
Honestly, though, I don't restrict myself too much at all.

It's better to decrease caloric intake in steps of 500 kcals, most of which should come from consuming less cabs.

Difficult to measure shit like that all the time.
Half of your normal portion is a better rule of thumb.
