Ok, so this is how it is............... next door neigbour who has a kid and has a sister that lives with her. And a dog.

When ever there is garbage to be taken to the dumpster instead of doing that she and/or the sister just fill up a plastic bag and throw it next to their step or by the nearby fence. It sits for d-a-y-s. A few times there have been bags of garbage piled by her fence and some put near her gate.

Hubby and I complained to the rental manager. We complained because mice have made a hole just underneath the fence that divides our back yards. We went to Wal-mart and bought mouse treat seed which is laced with poison.

We have used mice traps using cheese and we catch grown ones, youngsters and little babes. Last summer we had the traps going off every 5 ... yes 5 minutes. We could of had while this was going on ---- free entertainment!!! Even two mice for the price of one in a trap a few times!

The mice are back again.......... it is a no win battle. We have to spend money to poison the rodents. Luckily they have not made their way into our home!

Now she is seeing a dude so she is smitten. Two weeks ago there was garbage in her back yard. Hubby was standing around having his cigarette when he over heard her saying to her dude "don't mind the garbage" wtf??!!

Next thing you know that garbage disappeared. I think the sister threw it all. They tend to do that when they think no one is around to see them throw it away when they do.

Tonight the dude came by to see her. He is parked on the front street. Meanwhile in the back....... there is a plastic bag of trash and 2 pizza boxes lying on the ground. And to boot......... her dogs shit is still on the side walk. Those two sisters have not cleaned up after that dog. How can she let her 4 year old little girl play in the back yard in that???!!!

Not only that............... 2 black birds have discovered her garbage. I even watched as one bird was trying to make a hole to get access to this free dinner.

I am pissed

I have had evil thoughts of going out at 2:00 am and cutting up the garbage and dumping it onto their grass or sidewalk.

I have talked to the manager before and what do I have to do??? Complain every time they put their shit in their back yard??

Have you ever asked them why they store their garbage there?? After that you can let them know that (they probably don't know about the mice issue) that it has created a mice issue and if they could help you out.

They put their garbage by their step or by the fence coz they are too fucking lazy to walk down the alley to the dumpster.

They are disobeying the lease agreement whereas tenants are responsible for maintaining their backyard such as cutting the grass and keeping it clean. Free of garbage and debris.

I am considering calling the head office and putting in a complaint.

Yeah, we could bring it up nicely........... "hi, can you please not throw your garbage by your step/fence as this has invited the mice population" how nice do you have to be??? What if they clean up?? good??? and what if they start up again???

The key is asking them without attitude? Ask the question in a curious way as to understand their position. This will make them open to your request after you let them know about the mice problem.

I completely agree with you that it's disgusting, but, mind you, some people just think differently or have other priorities; they might not realise how disgusting and dangerous this is. It would be better for you to talk to them first and not bypassing them and getting things done behind their back - I don't like it when people do that.

Speak up to them, tell them this is disgusting and if they still won't stop doing it, go complain.

if they don't, get on the blower to the rent people & if they fob u off or are generally useless, get a jiffy bag & send them the evidence

When they finally dispose of the trash properly, all these rodents are going to start looking for OTHER sources of food...and you are next door so...

We did that. We told him. He said he would call the folks at head office who deal with pest management...... we have never seen anyone come by to deal with it after that nor the manager himself. Then one day the trash was all gone (2 weeks ago). She cleaned up her yard (I suspect she received some notice taped to her door or a warning letter) ..... but it is back to square one. Nothing has changed.

Maybe we have to contact the manager again and tell him that if this is not fixed that we will contact the head office.

Why not just call the head office, yourself, instead of screwing around with a lackey?

put it in writing. document what you can through photos and record date times, etc. mail this all to your manager with the word 'NOTICE' in all caps at the head of the letter, and cc your local public health inspector. that might help. sucks you have to deal with this

Call the city and report her...they will take care of it for you.
