The 2012 NBA Finals
Game 1
Miami Heat 94 Oklahoma City Thunder 105
In this first game for the NBA Championship, the Thunder came out of the gate slow. Was it nerves, as this is the first NBA Finals for most of the OKC franchise or was it rust, since OKC hadn't played in nearly a week after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals? At any rate, it was Miami that came out with energy and aggression, as Lebron James and Shane Battier came out strong, and the Heat led by as much as 13 points in the second quarter and led at halftime by seven.
But the Thunder would come storming back in the second half. They were led by Kevin Durant and Ruseell Westbrook, who made up for a poor shooting first half with some clutch drives to the hoop in the second while Thabo Sefolosha made some huge steals on the Heat offense as well as a few points in transition and from the free throw line. Durant led all scorers with 36 points, eight rebounds, and 4 assists while Westbrook had 27 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds. Lebron James led Miami with 30 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals, and Shane Battier added 17 points on 4 for 6 shooting behind the three-point line. Dwayne Wade had 19 points and Chris Bosh had 10 off the bench, but they struggled in the second half, as OKC clamped down defensively.
Oklahoma City leads series 1-0.

OKC got in that ass last night! Dwayne looked pissed. What's up with LeBron's face? He's looking roided as of late.
U gotta love those OKC fans, I haven't seen a bball crowd that hyped in a long time.
I think they will do 2, 3, 2.

OKC will win the the 2nd game then Miami will win at home court but get beat after that. Shit, there might not be a game 7. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

I don't know if any of you saw this: .
Someone was holding it up in the crowd last night in OKC...
I'm guessing this person thinks Thabo Sefolosha looks like Prince, because I can't think of any other connection...
What do you guys think? | |

The 2012 NBA Finals
Game 2
Miami Heat 100 Oklahoma City Thunder 96
The Heat stormed out to a huge early lead in this game, thanks to OKC's frigid shooting woes, and they had a sizable lead throughout the first three quarters of the game. But the Thunder stormed all the way back from an eleven point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to cut the lead down to two points with 37 seconds left, and they stole the ball from the Heat with a chance to tie or win the game with a three point shot. But a 10 foot jumper by Kevin Durant fell short, and Miami hung on for the huge win, thanks to some clutch field goal and free throw shooting from Lebron James, who scored 32 points but was a perfect 12 for 12 from the free throw line. Dwayne Wade added 24 for the Heat while Chris Bosh made his first start in the Finals and scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Shane Battier was also clutch in this game, scoring 17 points on 5 for 7 shooting behind the three point line. Kevin Durant led the Thiunder with 32 points, and Russell Westbrook added 27 points, but he struggled from the floor until the fourth quarter, making only 10 field goals on 25 attempts. THis was the first home loss in the postseason for OKC.
Series tied at 1-1.

Go Heat! I'm tired of listening to all the haters. I hope they win the next three in Miami and get it over with fast.
Of course, now that I said that, they probably won't win another game.
I like both teams, but I don't really have a favorite. It's a win/win series for me. I really would like the Heat to win, though. LeBron really hasn't done anything to get hated on as much as he does.

Yea unfornately... but they still made ball calls ... always cheating for Lebron

Thunder only played ONE half of basketball. Can't put that on the refs.

The 2012 NBA Finals
Game 3
Oklahoma City Thunder 85 Miami Heat 91
This game was a more grind out affair, as neither team got out to a really huge lead, though each team went on an extended run at various stages of the game. But in the end, it would be the clutch free throw shooting plus some bad fouls and rushed shots by their opponent that would propel the Miami Heat to victory. The key moment came in the middle of the third quater when OKC had an eight point lead and was on the verge of breaking the game open when Kevin Durant picked up his fourth foul. Thunder coach Scott Brooks rested Russell Westbrook shortly afterward, but that would prove to be a big mistake, as the Heat went on a 17 to 5 run that would put them in the lead for good, albeit precariously throughout the rest of the game. The Heat nearly gave the game away to the Thunder, committing nine turnovers in the fourth quarter, but they made up for it with clutch free throw shooting, making 31 points from the free throw line on 35 attempts. Lebron James led the Heat with 29 points and 14 rebounds while Dwyane Wade added 25 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Chris Bosh added 10 points and 11 rebounds and blocked two shots. Kevin Durant led OKC with 25 points while Russell Westbrook added 19 ponts.
Miami leads series 2-1.

Turnovers, stupid fouls, missed free throws and a bad job by the coach. Twice OKC fouled the three point shooter. And sitting Westbrook during a crucial part of the game was a bad move.

This is the 2nd game in a row that OKC has missed more free throws than the margin that they lost by. U really don't deserve 2 win games like that. Having said that, IMHO the refs have determined the outcome of both of these games. I counted at least 10 phantom fouls called against OKC and at least 7 missed obvious fouls NOT called on the Heat. It is pretty sad when a professional league can't call championship games on the up and up. What is the real point of even playing these games?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
OKC would have won(in spite of the refs) if they had handled their business. Where was Harden last night? And you can't leave NINE points on the free throw line.

This is utterly ridiculous. So completely untrue that I don't even know how to respond to it. The refs are judged on their performances. Every play is reviewed - those with and without foul calls. If they were doing THAT BAD of a job, particularly after the incident with the ONE dirty ref, they'd be out of a job.
Refs don't decide games. Even the ONE dirty ref didn't decide games, he just affected points spreads for gambling. OKC has been the best free throw shooting team in the league the last two years. If they made the free throws from THE CALLS THEY GOT, they win the game last night.
Its been proven many times over that NBA refs get FAR MORE calls right than they will ever get wrong, and that over the course of a season or a series, "questionable" calls always equal out to near exactly even between home and away teams.
Come on now with the dirty ref nonsense. 10 phantom calls. Miama scored more points and made fewer stupid plays, so they won. I suppose a ref was responsible for the inbounds play where the ball was thrown to no one at a point when OKC had a chance to win?

Really? Lebron throwns the ball off the back underside of the basket in plain view, which is OUT of Bounds......no call. Wade fouls Shelofo clearly on the steal and dunk, no call. Perkins get drapped for a flagrant 1 foul and all the refs do is call a "regular" fol on what was clearly a flagrant 1. Fisher who is left handed gets his shot blocked from the right hand side, head and all, no call. Durant's 4th foul, he does not even touch Wade.....I could go on. I'm not an OKC fan, I'm a Bulls fan, but I used 2 play ball and I was a ref 4 three years in college. I'm telling u flat out these refs are bugging. Every shot that the Heat miss they look 2 the ref 4 calls as if they were fouled. It's dumb and NOT how basketball is supposed 2 be played.

People can blame ALL they want to on the refs, but it's up to the players and coaches how the game goes. You can't rely on refs. That's why I don't feel sympathy for teams people think got robbed because of refs' so-called negligence. Fuck that.

I've been playing and watching ball for 26 years, tens of thousands of games, and I don't agree. The refs calls are not deciding these games.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Again, it was a ONE POINT game with a minute and a half left. What did the refs do to stop OKC from winning the game? OKC failed to execute in the last 90 seconds, just like the first 46 and a half, so they lost.

Anyone see the Dream Team special? Pretty fucked up the way they blackballed Isiah Thomas. Much as I hate Isiah the executive, I always respected his game(I'll never forget his early 80s playoff duel against Bernard King). It was a disgrace he wasn't on the Dream Team, but it was either him or Jordan. I'm sure Jordan & Pippen weren't the only ones.
I was ticked about Laettner too, but Shaq Fu got the last laugh - four rings and a future spot in the HOF.

Oh hell yeah. Pippen was the first to speak against Isaiah. He stated he wouldn't play on the dream team if Isaiah was selected. It's also no secret that Isaiah wasn't a favorite of Jordan either after Isaiah commented that the league shouldn't entertain a one on one matchup of Jordan vs Magic. Jordan didn't like the comment and stated that a Isaiah versus Magic matchup wouldn't be entertaining. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Not if the refs have anything to say about it! Right?
Come on man, how are you gonna go and bail on your own point that easily? If you think the refs are deciding the outcome of the game then there is no "either way".

Wrong....the NBA wants 7 games after a strike filled injury plagued season.
