RIP Ray Bradbury

via shadow and act

R.I.P. Ray Bradbury, Author of Fahrenheit 451and The Martian Chronicles

Ray Bradbury — author of The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and many more literary classics — died this morning in Los Angeles, at the age of 91.

We've got confirmation from the family as well as his biographer, Sam Weller.

His grandson, Danny Karapetian, shared these words with io9 about his grandfather's passing: "If I had to make any statement, it would be how much I love and miss him, and I look forward to hearing everyone's memories about him. He influenced so many artists, writers, teachers, scientists, and it's always really touching and comforting to hear their stories. Your stories. His legacy lives on in his monumental body of books, film, television and theater, but more importantly, in the minds and hearts of anyone who read him, because to read him was to know him. He was the biggest kid I know."

"Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

My favorite Science Fiction author. His stories were fiction, but the message was and is more than real. Its interesting that he died during the transit of Venus. If you're going to die, die when somthing thats once in a lifetime is going on. Its so ironic that I did a research paper on him last week.

RIP Ray Bradbury.

Good point about the transit of Venus!

Bradbury was my favorite author-- his Martian Chronicles was a favorite book of mine, and a turning point for my childhood reading...Rest in Peace, Mr.Bradbury...

Dear, Ray Bradbury will never die. his ideas will live on forever, in the minds and hearts of his fans. like all great writers, bradbury has become eternal, immortal. immutable. permanently chiseled into the stone of our collective sensibilities, hopes and dreams. moreover, bradbury has had himself cryogenically frozen, and will be aboard the next SpaceX launch, on a mission to locate Planet X, or nibiru, the origins of our alien ancestors. and once this has been done, Bradbury will be reanimated and employed as an emmissary for the people of earth. he'll be back, never fear!

touched i'll try to think of him that way then. thank you dear.

One of the greatest! The spirit of romantic poetry infused into scifi/fantasy/horror. He had a powerful thing going, and left some great work.
