So Girls is getting rave reviews and is supposedly the best new show to debut on television. I unfortunately don't have HBO but am anxious to see what the public thinks of it.

From the trailer it reminds me of the Gen-X show Gen-X never got. Do twenty-somethings still act like this?

I watched it once I saw it had some of the same cast from the movie Tiny Furniture. It wasn't bad-- very indie--more IFC than HBO. I'll keep watching, but ratings for the premiere were very low so it may not last long.

I liked it. I would probably hate them all in real life, but I see a lot of room for those characters to grow, so I'm looking forward to more episodes.

I saw the promos ; I don't know why I thought "Girls" hadn't premiered yet. I'll try to catch it.

HBO has produce quite a few "bombs" (good shows with low ratings) for the last couple of years. They need to allow more time to build an auidence, they are competing in an ocean of upteem channels.

I am really, really looking forward to Veep. I love Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, and I have a lot of high hopes for this one.

I think Girls and Veep will make a nice Sunday-night pairing.

Have you seen the movie Tiny Furniture? It's like a pre-pilot for the pilot. Except in the movie, Lena's character has a younger sister.

I haven't seen it. I think it's on my Netflix queue, though. A friend told me about it a while back and I meant to check it out, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I watched "Tiny Furniture" the same day I later saw "Girls" and "Tiny Furniture" is SO MUCH BETTER.

"Girls" feels really contrived compared to the movie. It's also got that Apatow style pacing where they compound the edits and funny statements quickly to try to make it more funny (and you get a whiff of that improv technique so popular in movies today: shot endless takes with the actors just going off and making up funny comebacks). At least that's what it felt like to me and my girlffriend. I liked the movie much more, and thought this felt a little bit sold out.

But I'll still watch it.

"Tiny Furniture" is incredibly good for such a young filmmaker/writer/actress.

I just watched it and I enjoyed it. Can't say that I like any of the characters so far, but their interactions with each other make me want to keep watching.

Need to find Tiny Furniture too.

I'm still watching the show. There is usually one laugh-out-loud moment in each episode. I love Jessa and Ray, the two holdovers from Tiny Furniture. It's amazing to me that I can find entertaining the fact that all the characters are annoyingly self-centered and a bit off. It's a little like the Seinfeld cast in that way.
