Has anybody been to Ravinia?

I'm waiting to buy tickets online - wondering if I should plump for reserved seats or just go for the lawn? What's better/more fun? Help!

As appealing at that sounds, based on other feedback I've gotten, I'm actually leaning toward seats. (If I can still get them. I've been "in line" at their website for over two hours. mad ) I've been told that you can't see the stage from most of the lawn - and I really, really doubt Sweetie is going to want to get in line in the middle of the afternoon for an 8:00 show so we have a shot at seeing anything.

Plus, I want to wear a dress and be cute and shit. A seat might be better for that. lol

Yeah the lawn is more informal hang out, drink and eat and listen to music. If you want to see the performance the seats are the way to go.

Depends on why and who you plan to see at Ravinia. If you're going on an average night with some nice music from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra or some local jazz band, then you definitely want to go on the lawn. Bring a couple of your collapsible folding chairs and a picnic basket stocked with some fine wine and enjoy the ambiance. If you're going to see a big name act, however, spend the money on pavillion seats so you can see the artist perform.

Soem notable appearances at Ravinia this upcoming summer:

June 9: Earth Wind and Fire

June 15: Al Green

June 25: Esperanza Spalding

June 28: Glen Campbell/Ronnie Milsap

June 29: Colbie Calliat/Gavin DeGraw

June 30: Sarah MacLachlan

July 9: Santana

July 10: Natalie Merchant

July 22: Seal

July 27, 28: James Taylor

August 3: Crosby, Stills & Nash

August 4: Demi Lovato

August 11: Train

August 18: Tony Bennett

August 24: Lyle Lovett

August 29: Duran Duran

September 1: Daryl Hall & John Oates
