Yes indeed there are risks and certainly side effects to meds, but there is no trick or myth going on when it comes to them being helpful when needed.
I know that I nearly died from severe pneumonia and spent a month in the hospital in 97. There is no doubt in my mind that I would not have overcome this and be here today were it not for meds, shitty side effects and all.

The only scams going on are the greedyness of pharmaceutical companies. The costs of meds. If I were to subscribe to a conspiracy theory on this would be perhaps (perhaps) that the virus was manmade, and that our government is capable of delaying cures/advances that would lessen the amount of money being made from folk needing the meds.

I read something recently that it originated in Africa as a simian virus, I think early 1900s.. and when passed to human, likely via blood contact, it just mutated...like viruses tend to do

Well, why wouldn't I ask? As gay men, we're told that "Silence = Death" concerning HIV. I completely encourage talking to someone about health statuses. And plus, it's the drugs that make people sick, not HIV.

You can talk about it, but you were talking about public profiles. Why would you put your medical info on a public profile? People are all about privacy, but they expect to put out your medical status for anyone to see.

Some diseases come from overseas and some start with animals. I'll say some because I don't wanna generalize all diseases plus AIDS definitely wasn't a man-made disease.
