WTH?

Federal authorities in Chicago have charged four people with distributing more than 100,000 pounds of tainted Mexican cheese they say the suspects would “wash” and resell after it was returned by customers because of mold or fungus.

The four suspects would scrape the mold or fungus they could see and then resell it, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald’s office said Thursday.

They tried to hide what they were doing by lying to inspectors from the federal Food and Drug Administration and sending false documents to the agency.

I didnt click on the article link, but some cheeses can mold, if they are hard cheeses.. you just have to scrape it off... but either way, I dont think Id purchase it if I "knew" there had been mold on it..

They have a burger with blue cheese & bacon at Smashburger that is da bomb.

There is a hard Honduran cheese that tends to get this pink mold on it...they just scrape it off like you said.

And I agree...I wouldn't buy the Mexican cheese if I knew that there had been mold on it.
