skateboarding

i've never been in this part of the org and the coolest bit is that we're all, or you're all talking shit, but in the back of your mind your hyped on obscure prince shit like i am just as a regular thing, and you always just think how cool it would be in the back of your mind, if when you were talking to your boss, he was just going in his head "SHOCKADELICA. girl must be a witch.....sandwich...I'm hungry..." "LUNCH TIME PEOPLE - SANDWICHES!!!!"

but anyway, point is...i love prince and i love skateboarding, grew up on it. but, i don't know/meet people who are into skating that also are pretty intensely into prince. so i wonder if any of you skate, or used to, or know people, or used to fuck a guy who skated or etc or something else.

i have a madonna shirt on and my head is spinning.

I can make you H.A.P.P.Y

People who are into skateboarding or snowboarding are often into really bad music too.

Oh, don't even get me started on skateboarders! They have been an absolute pain in the ass for 13 years at my job.

Building maintenance constantly having to come out and paint handrails. The metal on the handrails with deep indentions from the scratches those damn wheels have made on them. Spokes on the handrails constantly having to be replaced. Handrails broken from the wear and tear of constant skateboarding on top of them. Marble on the outer edge of the fountains scratched up from skateboard wheels. Fountain pumps having to be replaced because skateboarders get inside the fountains when they are drained overnight to be cleaned by maintenance. Drains on overhead walkways missing because skateboarders ripped them out because they were poking up and obstructing the path of them skateboarding on top of the overhead walkways and jumping from layer to layer. Maintenance having to come out and attempt to remove graffiti off the sidewalks and off the side of the marble on the fountains. "No Skateboarding" signs being placed in various areas in the grass on the premises on a Friday only to return to work on Monday morning and see them laying on the sidewalk with skateboard tracks on top of them. Outside door matts ruined or missing because they have been rolled up and used as objects to jump over. Anything that isn't nailed down outside moved out of it's place to be used as objects to jump over. Thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars of contstant ongoing damage.

The police have come out numerous times to run them off but there's not a lot they can do because there is not a no skateboarding ordinance in the city. We have tried our damndest to get one with no success. Advice has been to get "No Skateboarding" signs and place them. We've done that and they rip them out of the ground and skateboard on top of them. The only way something is going to get done about it is if one of the little bastards fall and hurt themselves bad and sue the City. The police can't constantly partrol the area because they have a whole city to patrol and it is full of crime. Of course, they have much worse crime than skateboarders which is understandable. But the funny thing is, every one of the skateboarders have car tags from surrounding counties. They don't even live in the city and they live in areas where people are consantly badmouthing the city for all the crime. I see it this way, apparently this city isn't rough enough if the skateboarders aren't afraid to come in from surrounding areas to damage property in this city. Hell, we don't even have enough money to fix these pothole filled patched up streets let alone constantly have to fix damage that some little spoiled pampered skateboarders do that don't even live in this city. They need to keep their ass in their own little suburb town and tear their shit up. But they know better because the police in those areas would beat the hell out of them.

I have a student who is absolutely obsessed with skateboarding- more specifically, longboarding.

He carries a longboard with him everywhere, and has even gone so far as to get sponsorship from major companies for his team. He even builds them.

Do you know how many skateboarding anecdotes I've heard this semester alone? lol

I've learned a lot; I think I know more than I'll ever need to know about it. He and I recently got into a major discussion about traffic laws and skateboarding.

And yeah, I hate his music. lol

I don't care what anyone says, skateboard dudes are always the most polite, cool kids/guys ever. My son recently started to skate and I am very happy about it.

I think almost if not every guy I have been involved with has skated....one was even semi-pro.

I can even skate a little.

I now hate VainAndy! (And lust 4 Erin!)

Chipping paint off of a gaurdrail isn't affecting anyone. +If anything you should be glad that they are providing you with more work.

I could understand if someone was intentionally causing damage to private property, but most of the time it isn't that serious, and authority figures act irrational because they are out of touch with the younger generation.

I have dealt with similarly stupid people trapped in security/low-tier maintenence jobs on many occasions and to me it seems that they are just expressing disappointment with their own lives when they choose to lash out at youngsters having fun.

This so beautiful. I've just never had these worlds come together in any sense at all. I think it may have been a Sierra Fellers interview where I read that he loved Prince. Also, I know Gator and Hosoi both loved Prince and Sheila E. in particular.

Skateboarders aren't bad people. I know you didn't directly say that, whoever you were. But, that's just stupid man...

Skateboarding is one of the most pure forms of enjoyment I can think of. So basic, so free, so fun! smile

Skateboarding has brought me together with some of the most interesting, amazing and talented people.

It's rock n roll. It's the coolest thing you can do aside from being a rockstar.

When I skate in a street, or somewhere in a city. I don't go out to be destructive. I go out to make use of an environment that was destructed already by the person that built a a big dirty building with a nice ledge and a set of stairs there.

Also, Lance Mountain - love his attitude, love his art, love his skating. He is an absolute King! smile

also, just as hyped on the connection of Prince and skating right now.

"Kiss" in the earphones, skating through the street. Perfect.

Also, I always put a little love symbol just above the back bolts in Posca and only one kid has ever know what it was haha smile

falloff Listen to yourself. Do you understand what you are saying in your own words? It isn't affecting anyone? It's causing damage to someone else's property, not yours. They have to pay to have it fixed, not you. If you want to damage property, damage your own. If you damage someone else's car, intentional or not, you have to pay for it. As for providing more work for me, there's plenty enough work already without having to run some grown ass men off the premises skating around on a toy.

And this isn't a private owned building, not that it should make a difference anyway. This is a City owned building and the skateboarders all have Rankin county car tags on their cars. They don't even live in the city of Jackson and are over here doing damage that the taxpayers of Jackson have to pay for who don't even skateboard. And the damages aren't just chipped paint either. Thousands of dollars of damages are done each year. We can't even have the maintenance crew to drain the fountains overnight because the idiots will get in there and skateboard and tear the pumps up. Those pumps costs thousands of dollars. And the graffiti. And as far as those handrails go, those are up there for safety and the ADA has strict guidelines that have to be followed and kept up for safety.

This is also a predominately black city with a black mayor and there is a lot of racism that goes on in the suburbs surrounding the city from residents that used to be citizens of Jackson. On every local blog there is, they constantly downgrade the city and talk about how much better it was run when white folks ran it. All the crime these days, the deserted and boarded up buildings, the drugs, the potholes and patched up roads because there's no money to fix them, etc. And they judge the entire city, including the downtown area which is basically a ghost town at night, by the rough areas of town. When those same people that badmouth the city come to a function at our building and see the hot ghetto mess of a condition of it with the scraped up handrails and graffiti, who do you think they blame automatically assume did this damage? The black residents of "bad ole Jackson that was run so much better when white folks ran it". When in reality, it is their own citizens from their own suburb town driving over here and tearing shit up. They need to tear shit up in their own town but as I said before, the police in those towns would beat the absolute hell out of them if they did.

Dear Sir, woah!

A skateboard is not a toy.

I don't read your whole posts because they're a little too close-mindedly vibed.
