Of course he plays all day...it's a kitty wink

But it takes time to let you hold him, he's got to much energy to be hold now.

He doesn't even try to cuddle or lay on you when he sleeps? Eh, give him time and he will...cats do things by their own terms. He sounds like a very happy kitty in his new home.

Ah, there you go! biggrin That's his cuddle time with you (for now). His new world is very exciting to him, so he is still exploring. He'll get in more cuddle time when he is more well..... bored.

Although i've always been a dog person, this is what i like about cats.

Sometimes when I ask my cat to come inside she just gives me the look...."FY! I'm getting in when I want to." lol

Yup, this is pretty much it. Sleeping by your head is awesome and shows the bonds are forming.

One of my kitties is not a cuddler at ALL. She’s about 3 years old now and she still isn’t going to curl up and snuggle all the time. However, she has her own ways of showing affection. She jumps on my lap to be petted when I’m on the computer. She doesn’t snuggle in, but it shows she needs my attention. She absolutely HAS to be in the bathroom when I'm showering and she meows at me the whole time. It's our morning chat every day. smile She sleeps at the foot of my bed or on a pillow next to my bed and once in a great while she’ll lay down on my legs when I’m napping. And she still plays ALL DAY LONG.

My other kitty was like that when she was small but now I can pull her on my lap or cuddle just about any time. If she wanders over she can nap on me for hours, if I pick her up its a toss up how long she’ll stay. lol Cats are very independent.

You make me miss the one kitty I owned. She was extremely shy and only came out when I was alone with her so she would climb on me and butterfly kiss my face with her whiskers before she would lay across my lap. If anyone entered the house she would hide to silently peek at who ever came in. She only came out if she knew she would be safe since I had a mean younger brother who we both didn't like.

My best friend finally saw her after years of visiting me, she was shocked to discover I had a cat. lol My cat finally after YEARS of hiding from my friend decided to trust her too, and let my friend see and pet her.

My kids and I have allergies & asthma so can't own any furry babies. sigh sad

Sooo cute! Our new doggie likes to sleep by my head, and the older doggie by my feet.

My cat wasn't a cuddler when he was a baby. He was too busy getting into stuff. But, after he turned a year old, that's when he started to cuddle.biggrin

A good sign he wants to sleep by your head, he might come around as he gets older. My kitty (who is know 6 months old) slept next to my head and kneaded my hair. She jumps on my lap when I'm on the computer (or the toilet giggle ). How old is your kitty, btw? Usually males turn out to be lapcats. Do you make time to play with him? I recommend one of those cat dancers or things on a string. Was he a shelter cat? My other two older cats were from shelters and they weren't as affectionate as my kitty.

Good luck with your neko

I've never known a cat to not sleep at the head of the bed. Sleeping at the foot of the bed, which is what dogs usually do, is a sign of being submissive. Cats are anything but submissive.biggrin

i'm lucky, mine are either hand tame or understand that the deal is they have to go in the cage sometimes. it's tricky though, they do not like being told what to do.

you can force a cat to do things, but you can't force them to be comfortable with it. So I say let the cat come to you, don't try to pick it up.

They are all different. We have a cat that you can pet on the head as much as you want, and you can pick her up, but you start petting her back and eventually she will bite you, even though she enjoys it. Her mother was even worse. You could not pet her head without being bitten, but she was affectionate about it. shrug

What's the breed?

Some breeds hate to be held or picked up.

For example, I lived with a beautiful Turkish angora for a few years, and it was very affectionate, but could never tolerate being held. I googled the breed and discovered that it's common for Turkish Angoras to dislike being held.

That's why if I ever want to put up with a selfish ass animal like a cat ever again, I'm getting a Ragdoll cat---they look like fluffy Siamese (for good reason), and LOVE being picked up.
