Hearing about the misfortunes of Dennie Rodman and Alan Iverson recently made me wonder about other celebrities who had their heights of big fame for a brief period before falling back into obscurity. Remember not so long ago when these celebrities were all over the magazine covers and were featured on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and E!, not to mention were the darlings of MTV and VH1?

I think she is getting there. Certainly her sister with the baby can not get a cover of a magazine ( like IN Touch) all the herself and her boyfriend the way she could a year or so ago.

I don't even know if Khloe can get a cover ( even of Star or the National Enquirer). The youngest sisters are pretty much lame- in- the- water and never had a chance.

I bet by 2013 Kim will have a tough time getting a cover of a magazine. For a reality star to not land a cover with O.K. magazine or the like means it is curtain time soon.

Kim has been the new "sex kitten poster" for a while now-she took the reigns from Carmen Electra-remember her? Somebody younger and hotter will come along. But kim K isn't out yet, she does have a clothing line and if that sells well, she will be around forever .

Daisy Fuentes had a clothing line and so did Kathy Ireland. Lindsay Lohan had a clothing deal and it was ripped away from her. The manufacturers will cut those ties and take their losses if the name is no longer "hot" or "cool".

I am wearing a pair of black Jacklyn Smith sandals with a big black patent leather rose on the top RIGHT NOW, So true again.

Ms Smith has a squeaky clean image.

Britney Spears may have some perfumes that are still selling well.

Kim may still make money but I don't think Entertainment Tonight type shows will have a camera nearly up her but the way they use to.

Paris - She keeps trying to make a "statement" by making sure she's reported to be at a party but no one has given her a good goddamn since her court cases...

Hillary - She became a mother recently so maybe that slowed her down. Not a fan but at least she didn't do any hoe-ish type of shit like her contemporaries.

Willa - Here in 2001, gone in 2002. That's what happened to her.

Nicole - once she stopped fucking with Paris and became a mother, she got my respect.

Tiffany/"New York" - I fucks with her because she's unintentionally hilarious. Can't help posting her gifs either. "New York is in the motherfuckin' house" For a while I kept comparing her to that Muppets babe. But I saw pics of her sporting the natural and she actually looked decent for a change. Other than that she seemed to have settled for appearing in clubs with weird people but then again she is a Z-lister so...

At least Hillary Duff had a career that was longer than 15 minutes. So far, her peak was during the Disney years.

As for Aubrey O'Day, no one had a successful career after leaving Sean Combs' Bad Boy Entertainment. It even took Faith Evans a while to get it together.

Yeah, I heard that too but what's strange is, there has never been a follow up to the story. I even googled her the other day because I thought, ,"Hey what happened with Tila Tequila?" and NOTHING. I actually have always felt very sorry for her. Something just aint right with that girl. I actually think she has psychological probems (duh!) but I mean, some very serious issues. And it's sad because people rip on her and doesn't seem like she has a support system.

And Hilary Duff may actually be able to make a comeback. I think she was too associated with her Disney days to make the quick jump to more adult roles, though she tried to do that with some stints on Law and Order: SVU and other shows. She's also the most well adjusted of the bunch I listed here, so we may see her again before too long.

I love Nicole Richie. she's one of those celebs I don't exactly follow but whenever she's on TV, I have to watch. she seriously cracks me up & she'd barely speak a word! I think it's her eyes

But Jacklyn Smith does not revolve her career around being in the Top Trending topics in today's social media. She's a different kind of starlet of a different generation with an entirely different demographic and set of interests. Kim's selling power is entirely contingent on being White Hot and doing someting that is the latest buzzword on everyone's lips to retain the short attention span we now have in society.

Jacklyn's market is the same as Suzanne Sommers, middle-age to senior females who are using hormone replacement, approaching retirement, and not watching so much reality tv as the rest of us vs. the ending episodes of All My Children, and re-runs of their favorite shows on the Hallmark Channel. It's a different kind of customer base with an entirely different kind of consumer psychological profile. Beyond that, she began her licensing ventures long after her mainstream popularity waned, further an indication to me that she had an audience and consumer base that was in it with her for the long haul, unlike what we see with contemporary celebrities and media personalities today.

I think even though Kim has been ultra successful in creating a fortune for herself, eventually her popularity will wane because she is entirely too vapid and simply has nothing to offer besides posing vampily for red carpets and B-list products. Her entire schtick rests on red carpet photo ops and whatever interest she can conjue up through her reality show. But honestly,she has no real talent to speak of, and (unlike the tv actresses of old we see hawking everything from thigh masters to sea kelp) she's made no meaningful contribution to the celluloid or music worlds to stand as a pop culture icon worth remembering 30 years from now (eg, Chrissy from 3s Company, Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angels, etc.). I essentially see Kim Kardashian as the 21st century version of Vanna White, but was just lucky enough to be poised on the precipice of social networking and the digital revolution.

Call me skeptical, but yup, eventually, she will have to fall by the wayside when someone younger and more exciting comes along. And I don't think she'll be able to pull herself back up into the stratospheres of fame that she currently possesses because she has no glue or staying power as does a traditional "star". Real stars have a cultural reference point we can go back to that gives people joy. Kardashian? Well, we'll be able to look back at her ads for Carl's Jr. Burgers and shows of her screaming at her mother with sunglasses on in her kitchen saying " Kris, I don't care what convention is in town, if I don't get that fu*king hotel room , somebody's in trouble!!!"
