I give this 3.5 stars. A play adaptation, the acting was powerful and the characteres intriguing... but the director chose this overwrought violin music (that was poorly mixed) and it was distracting as all hell. Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston ere great.

Infinity stars. I wanna play Eleanor of Aquitaine someday... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I've only seen this movie in bits and pieces, I'm not sure if they all add up to seeing the entire movie. I liked what I saw and have wanted to see the whole thing in one shot, seeing it here reminded me to drop it in my queue.

I think it will leave you feeling very sad and perhaps bitter over some of the things this poor chimp had to endure, but I don’t believe there are any overpowering moments in it that would make you cry like Nancy Kerrigan or anything like that.

Le Gamin au vélo / The Kid with a Bike (2011) - Abandoned by his father, a young boy is left in a state-run youth farm. In a random act of kindness, the town hairdresser agrees to foster him on weekends.
That boy was a handful. The hairdresser had a lot more patience with him than I would have had.

Battleship 2012.
I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.
If I could be more objective, I'd probably give it a 3 out of 5 stars. it's not a great movie, but it's adequate for your summer blockbuster, feel-proud-to-be-American movie. Far too long, and just too many explosions.
But, I'm going to give it a five out of five stars because they gave so much screen time to him:
Good lawd, he's delicious.
OK, I'm going ot give it a 4.5 out of 5 because he doesn't appear shirtless in any scene. Just shorts in the first football scene.
Stupid ass movie. | |

Hearat Shulayim / Footnote (2011) - Eliezer and Uriel Shkolnik are father and son as well as rival professors in Talmudic Studies. When both men learn that Eliezer will be lauded for his work, their complicated relationship reaches a new peak.

The Conformist (1970) - A weak-willed guy desperate for a sense of belonging, even if it entails the assasination of an old professor of his, instigated by Italy's fascist regime. 4.5/5
Haywire (2011) - a covert operation agent seeks revenage after she finds she got set up during her mission. the date night scene was epic to say the least! 4/5 "what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

I made a big deal about this movie right before I was released...even started a damned thread about it...
THEN nonsense got in the way of me actually going out to see it...and I forgot all about it now that it's out on DVD.
Gonna go BUY it on Amazon... By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Loved it!
The references to other sci-fi flicks were cool. (Sigorney getting punched at the end by the old lady was hilarious!)
Funny movie overall.

I watched Summertime (1955, Katharine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi; David Lean directing) for about the zillionth time yesterday. And I would still give it 100 stars (out of 100), if I could. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
