But Marilyn turned on "Marilyn" for the press. She was known to speak about her in the third person, even, in private. Michelle's fragility was spot on.

"Alien Opponent" and it was just as awesome the 10th time as it is the 1st time.
And now the uncut, uncensored DVD is out!
Best movie of 2011. Why it didn't sweep the Academy Awards, I'll never figure out.

Fanny och Alexander (1982) - A pair of siblings in a large wealthy family have their lives upended after their father dies and their mother gets remarried to a local bishop. The five-hour version is a sprawling, rich epic. 1/2 [Edited 4/7/12 9:35am]

We have comic books/graphic novels to begin with...who needs spoken pictures??

I bought this blu-ray for only 8 bucks. Execellent old Hitchcock film. The women who plays the creepy head Housekeeper, Mrs.Danvers, steals the picture, IMO.

2.5/5 Sabina Spielrein arrives at the Burghölzli, the preeminent psychiatric hospital in Zurich, with a typical case of hysteria and begins a new course of treatment with the young Swiss doctor, Carl Jung. Another one of those, there is so much more to the story til it's hard to fit it all in things.
3/5 When two grade-school boys get into a confrontation in the park that results in one boy hitting the other in the mouth with a stick, their parents meet in a Brooklyn apartment to discuss the matter. The parents of the boy wielding the stick, Alan and Nancy Cowan (Waltz and Winslet), visit the home of Michael and Penelope Longstreet (Reilly and Foster), who are the parents of the boy who was struck. Their meeting is initially intended to be a short visit but various circumstances, such as Nancy vomiting in the Longstreet's living room and Alan's numerous cell phone conversations, continue to draw it out.
First half slow, second half I had a few lol moments, the ending credit scene tied it up perfectly.

We Need To Talk About Kevin (4/5 stars)
This film was terrific and chilling. Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller both were perfect in their roles and I left the theater wanting to see this again immediately.

I'm at my parent's and this is on right now. By far the worst horse shit ever. How this became the most successful movie ever is beyond me. We are doomed to burn in hell, I guess.

Winner of The Best Editing prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Black Power Mixtape, is an irresistible audiovisual collage, the film combines a treasure trove of recently rediscovered footage of the 1967–75 Black Power Movement with penetrating commentary by leading contemporary African-American voices, all set to an evocative soundtrack by Questlove of the Roots and Om’Mas. Directed by Swedish filmmaker Göran Hugo Olsson’s revelatory , co-produced by longtime activist and actor Danny Glover.
Director Olsson brings this mesmerizing footage to light and, integrating audio interviews with prominent African-American artists and activists who were influenced by the struggle. “Vital. Assembled from extraordinary footage… and augmented by contemporary audio interviews, the film presents a powerful reminder of the black power movement, often neglected, misrepresented or forgotten in this country.” – James Greenberg, Hollywood Reporter

Io sono l'amore / I Am Love (2009) - A tragic love story set at the turn of the millennium in Milan. The film follows the fall of the haute bourgeoisie due to the forces of passion and unconditional love. My third time seeing this one.

my opinion:
a) the mainstream society FINALLY jumping on the 3-D bandwagon, even if it was already popular since the 90s (Imax, anyone?)
b) people who don't care about movies (usually) getting excited due to the "the movie looks so gorgeous you will go insane" thing (lol). I saw A LOT of grandparents in the theater, enjoying a sci-fi movie, and that was just because of those damn pretty plants and the general exuberance,
c) romantic love story, that always helps, Jimmy is soft...
d) once the movie broke the PiratesOfTheCaribean/HarryPotter/DarkKnight box-office records, the media started this crazy campaing about Avatar having options to break the record of Titanic as well. Then, Avatar became as famous as Facebook, lol, everyone wanted to "contribute" to make this "gorgeous family friendly 3-D love story with some sici-fi action" the most succesful movie ever. Ahh, the masses...And of course, nobody wanted to be the bitter anti-everything who hadn't watched the film...
e) I'd also add that the "green/leftist/peace-not-war" message struck a chord with audiences, specially in these years of reckless capitalism, wars and Earth slowly (but steadily) dying... It IS a noble film, I'll give Jimmy that...
I think the movie was ok, 100 old ideas mixed-up in a single film. If the sequel is good, I guess I'll respect this film more...My problem is that I've seen and I've played like 25 better sci-fi movies/videogames than Avatar
