It usually takes about 6 weeks for arm bones to heal, unless it's a complicated break.

They should really have told you that in the hospital. What's the NHS coming to anyway, eh?

It might be an idea to get in touch with your GP or the doctor who treated you to ask about how long it'll take to heal and how much excercise you can give it. I doubt very much you'll be fit for your gig - I would think that rest (at least during the initial healing period) is recommended.

Anyway, hope it heals quickly.

I bet you´ve fractured your radial head bone. That´s a tricky one because if you don´t give your elbow some rest and immobilize it, the bones won´t heal properly but if you keep it immobile for too long, you risk losing your flexibility. A good physiotherapist is very important with this kind of fracture. You will probably need to keep your elbow in a cast for at least two weeks but after that you´ll probably change to wearing a sling.

Stay away from cola and lots of sugar. Also avoid diet cola because even though it doesn´t contain sugar it is high in phosphorus and that´s bad for your bones right now.

Eat some good cheese, make sure you get plenty of calcium.

And keep in mind that good physiotherapy is key here. It´s going to be painful but you will be glad that you did the painful exercises later on. If you don´t , then you´ll risk your flexibility.

Oh, get well soon. Wishing you a good, speedy recovery. And PLEASE don´t neglect the physiotherapy sessions.

Are you into fitness? If you´ve trained your triceps properly so far and done dips and whatnot, then the healing process will probably be much faster for you.

The cast they put your arm in is NOT a full cast if you´ve broken your elbow. It´s like a cast with a sling and the upper part is open ( they mostly use gauze bandage for that).

What did they tell you? Have you broken your radial head?

See, I knew its a radial neck bone fracture. That´s a tricky one (and quite painful in the long run) but hopefully you´ll find a good physiotherapist. Do you need surgery?
