A truly remarkable show. I think they're going for a revelations brought to life thing. I notice that everyone has troule with religion, except the old vet guy, he's very religious but I think he had issues with race before the world turned based on some of the things he said It really is brilliant if that's what they'e doing (i.e. everyone left on Earth isn't saved). Now there are some holes in the theory mainly the government did drop an A bomb which accounts for the low population and cities that are ghost towns with corpses still in their seatbelt. Theres a lot of empty cars too, I don't think we should assume all of them where murdered by lame brains

I just caught up yesterday. I dvr them and a friend and I watch together in mini-marathons. I finally got to read this thread. yay!
SPOLIERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
The first half of this (half?) season was pretty boring, but they made up for it in the last 3 episodes.
I really hated Shane. I found him hot in a disgusting way (once he shaved his head, anyway), but I hated his character, so I'm not sad to see him go. And what was up with his redneck accent getting worse and worse as time went on? I didn't remember it much from the first season, suddenly he was a good ole boy. Gross.
I was sad to see Dale go, but killing off a lovable character is important. You have to be willing to do it. If you know anyone can go, it keeps things truly on edge.
I hate Lori too. I hate her brown hair and her whining and her everything.
I never liked Andrea much, but I like her more now. Loved her final scenes through the woods and I love how they ended with a hooded character with the armless zombies on leashes.
I Glen and Darryl. Probably my favorite characters. I like Darryl's journey and I'm really interested to see what becomes of him should they come upon Merle again. Great dynamic.
I've not read the comic, so I don't know what to expect and I'm kinda glad. Perhaps I'll pick them up one of these days.

@ Carrie: Your description of Lori is hilarious! She's just Ugh!
A coworker found the graphic novels online and sent me links to a long list of them. He keeps asking me when I'm going to read them. I'm off this week, so I'll check them out...

I hate the character of Lori, too. No way you'd be able to get pregnant if you were that skinny. Also, from the Lori school of acting - when I'm feeling hopeless, I put my hands in my back pockets and open my eyes real wide. When I'm sad, I put my hand on my face and open my eyes real wide. When I'm mad, I put my hand by my mouth and open my eyes real wide.
Having said all that - I STILL HATE ANDREA MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "She made me glad to be a man"

I read the last half of comic book #11 and all of comic book #12. It was pretty good.
My friend that brought them said the TV series is not up to that point yet, so I won't talk about what happens, but it was interesting.

I've only read the synopsis of the comic, I had to check on the odds of some of the characters, it's interesting to see what did and didn't change. I'm hyped for season 3 though, that looks completely insane.

I have a serious question here now.............
Seriously..............
HOw can a Zombie with no arms be no threat? Come on, really????????? This woman has 2 Zombies on Chains like Staffordshire Bull Terriers and they aint trying to chew her brains out? . . . . . Really?
Thats like Spongebob needing a Glass of Water .............. Life is short, don't be a dick.

Their bottom jaw is completely removed also. They're not able to bite and have given up trying

Nah, I cannot accept that as feasible.
Zombies apparently have "Primal" Instincts, It isnt primal to stop trying. That is a "Conscious" choice.
That was the first thing I thought when seeing the hooded woman, I thought, ok , They have no arms but they are Zombies, Thoughtless killing machines with only one desire to eat.......They would be trying regardless, major flaw. Life is short, don't be a dick.

I cheated a little bit and did a peak preview of the comics. I have no idea if that's the explanation the makers of the show will roll with but they seem to stay close to the comics if not exact. Per the comics they have a connection to her that somewhere in their primal minds they remember along with the fact they can no longer eat. But who knows.

This can't possibly be the first scientific WTH you've encountered while watching a series about zombies. At a certain point, you've just got to submit to a suspension of disbelief.
But while we're at this, one thing I'd like to know is: If the mind of a human walker is reduced to nothing but a machine poised to satisfy its most basic drives, why aren't the walkers also trying to breed with the survivors (even though they'd never technically be able to)?
