Going to the petrol station at night to buy a snack/drink I love it.
It's 1am here, I'm studying and I feel like having a chocolate bar and a nice, cold beer. I love putting on my coat, leaving the house without having spent some time on what I put on and my hair, breathing the cold, fresh air of the night, driving my car on the empty streets to the petrol station, smelling the petrol there, being served by a grumpty, old tired man, greeting the grumpty, old, drunken men sitting at the petrol station all night long and finally driving back to my warm place and my books.
I guess you can't really do/appreciate this everywhere. Some places don't have a near petrol station, some places aren't urban enough to fully enjoy them being quiet at night, some places have hundreds of shops near that are open all night long anyway etc. But here, in this town close to Vienna, everything is perfect to accomodate my joy for these night-rides to the petrol station - a tiny, little, almost unimportant, but still amazingly beautiful thing in life! |
