Actually as a little girl my mom called that wrapped up head a "doobie-doo"

and I would say the Scooby Doo "doobi-doobie-doo!" after she would brush my hair to death around my head. lol Later on black girls in my neighborhood would catch on damn near 20 years later and call it a "wrap".

Yes, there once was a time where Latinas had THE best heads of hair... now they just walk around looking like they are auditioning for The Last Dragon with glowing kool-aid hair or bleached frizz. neutral

When I'm having a "don't give a crap" day, I'll cover my head with one. I collect them and turn 'em into headbands for my hair. I loooove going to Wal-Mart and getting funky colors and designs.

It's a constant pain in the neck in school. We're constantly having to tell the boys they can't wear them in the building. confused

I wear one when I wear my hair in a bun and I've gelled my hair down. I wear it until the gel dries, or sleep with the do-rag, so that I don't have stray pieces sticking up in the morning.

WHY:

when my neighbor had a cookout over the summer, one of his guests was rocking a jheri curl in the hot sun, glistenin'? And why did his friend say "he must buy the activator on ebay?"

I only wear mine's at home nowadays. I used to rock it outside though. lol But I think it's only applicable to wear one at home especially if you cut your hair or put some grease on it. I usually put one on nowadays to go to sleep. lol

I'm very anal about how my rows look. lol So I'll wear it outside and inside, when I sleep, etc. And then, just today, I realized that I care so much about how it looks, but nobody will be able to see it. lol

That's why I originally bought it because of cornrows but it got too hard to maintain so I cut it so I rock it now because it makes you think you got a bald head. lol

lol Yeah I think if you don't know how to maintain cornrows you shouldn't have them. They helped in getting my hair in front thinning. neutral lol I just hope you do it right because no one wants to look like Stevie Wonder's hairline. lol

I ran into a guy I went to high school with, and he had cornrows. As he was walking toward my friend and me, I thought he was bald. When he turned to the side, I saw that those suckers started in the middle of his head! And they were fuzzy! falloff

It was so sad that at 45, he couldn't let go of that look! disbelief

lol Yuck. I personally think cornrows are appropriate between childhood and at least by the time you're 35. Afterwards, that shit would start falling apart. confused
