Look forward to it breaking down often. I wish you well with your new Ford.

I love my Mazda 6. It has been solid for the past 8 years! The style and accessories have aged well too. I never feel like I'm driving an old car. (Mazda is produced by Ford....)

Pontiac's are the only American made car I've dealth with. I currently have a Pontiac G6 (I've had it for 7 years) and have had no problems with it. My car before that, which was my first car was a Pontiac Grand Am. I had no major problems with that one either. Unfortunately, GM is no longing making Pontiac's, so that's out. Personally, since they've cut Pontiac, I have no interest for any other American car, so my next one will be foreign.
Although I've been hearing good things about Ford as of late, the horror stories of Ford from the past still sit in my mind. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

^ I've had close calls with mine, one time just as I was about to get onto the freeway. Cars from Japan and Germany last the longest. Toyotas and Hondas in particular.

Yeah I've been most interested in getting a Nissan next. I rode in one of my friend's Nissan and it's so quiet and smooth riding. I was highly impressed. If I wait another year and a half, I'll get a Nissan, but if I wait another 2 years or so, I'll get a BMW. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Isn't there a Pontiac model that came back rebranded as a Chevy?
I tried to Google it real quick and didn't come up with anything...but I clearly remember that being talked about when GM shut down Pontiac.
...and I agree with you...Pontiac was a great line...I really miss my old Grand Am By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Really? Hmm, I don't know. I don't like to mess with Chevy's too much..unless it's a truck. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I have a 2008 Ford Mustang convertible, V6 with a few options, that I paid $17K for in September 2008. It is now February 2012, and that car is worth...........$14.5K!
I don't know if all used cars have held their value like this, or only Fords, or only Ford Mustangs, but I have NEVER EVER seen a car hold its value like this.
Not to mention that it's a BLAST to drive! So I recommend a Ford Mustang convertible. You can spend $15K for one like mine, or you can upgrade to a V8 GT model or even a Shelby, and still stay way within your budget.
Good luck! | |

Nevermind.
I did more googling.
Apparently there was 'talk' of keeping the G8 as a Chevy, but it never panned out.
...on to Mazda then... By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

Almost everyone I know that has a Ford says it's too problematic. Not to spoil it and all. Maybe it's all how you take care of the car

That's what i'm thinking so far. I have always had either Honda or Acura but in recent years i am finding they are not as strong a build as they used to be. They are still in the elite as far as reliability but they have definitely taken a step down. This one's for the rich, not all of 'em, just the greedy

That's exactly what i'm thinking. I think all the newer cars of equal price range are not that far off in the various problems they have. This one's for the rich, not all of 'em, just the greedy

I hate to tell you this but a Toyota cars built in the USA use American suppliers for parts than Ford Motor Company does. Brian Williams NBC reported this story in 2010. If I recall correctly, it was 63% Ford vs Toyota 83%. I tried to find the story/video but its no where to be found, I wonder why?

Exactly. A lot of "foreign" cars (Honda, Toyota) are made in the United States, while a lot of "American" cars are made in Mexico - or have high percentages of parts that come from other countries.

My Mustang hasn't had a single problem in 3.5 years. And before I owned it, it was a Hertz rental car. So I think it's pretty reliable.

Sooo....buying a used car brings work back to the USA? How so?
I love old American cars from the 60´s and 70´s but I can´t stand anything that was built between the 80´s and today, except for Ford Mustangs. Listen to Rodeo Schro´s advice and buy a Ford Mustang. Not only are they reliable but they also look beautiful. Vintage American cars were, IMO, among the best cars in the world, they still drive around in places like Cuba even though they´re from the 50´s but the newer cars don´t do much for me.
My dad used to drive a Chevrolet (/Buick?) in the 1970s. Good times, good cars. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

i had a pontiac for my first car, but it had a lot of problems all of the time. now i have a kia spectra, bought it brand new in 2006, and have never had one problem with it. so i'm no help.

My first car was a Buick. Since then, I've had a Mazda, a Toyota, two Hondas, and five Acuras. The only two I ever had any issues with were the Buick and the Mazda. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Acuras are also reliable.

They are, indeed. But for purposes of this thread, I should note that not all of their models are built in the US. (All three of my TSXs were made in Japan.) We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
