Don Cornelius -- who famously created "Soul Train" was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, CA home this morning ... and law enforcement sources tell us it appears he committed suicide.
We're told cops discovered the body at around 4 AM PT. Law enforcement sources tell us ... Cornelius died from a gunshot wound and officials believe the wound was self-inflicted.
"Soul Train" changed the landscape of television when it debuted in 1971 and ran until 2006.
Don Cornelius was 75.

Oh, how sad! I didn't realize he was 75. Come to think of it, I don't ever remember seeing him laugh and smile that much. Maybe he was very depressed. | |

I feel genuinely sad about this. At first I thought that he was old and maybe his health was really bad and he just wanted it to end, but then I see that he was 75. I thought he was at least 10-15 years older than that.
