The Iron Lady (2011) - a portrait of Thatcher from prime to recluse. plot was a bit sketchy, but watching Meryl's performance was an absolute privilege. 3.5/5

I watched this today as well. Meryl was indeed great (makeup job was fantastic too), but the movie overall did not do much for me. 1/2

3/5 Interesting story, and I'm a sucker for period pieces.

Iron Lady was so lame. And people in tons of make-up playing older people just looks silly. Streep or no Streep.

I felt like some easy fun so I watched Due Date and I have to say it really delievered. Thoroughly entertaining.

I was going to avoid this because it looked like it might reek of kooky indie performance artist whimsy, but a critic who roughly aligns with my tastes said it was excellent, so I gave it a try. I didn’t like it much. It was kooky and whimsical and hipsterish – almost like a Todd Solonz movie without the shocks - but it did something in the last third that was unexpected & weird enough for me to bump up my rating a little.

I considered seeing this when it was in the cinema here, but ultimately passed on it despite the great reviews it got.

Warrior (2011) - A pair of estranged brothers enter a national mixed martial arts tournament. I didn't want to like this movie (and would not have bothered watching it if not for Nick Nolte's Oscar nomination), but it won me over in the end. 1/2

Dang. Tom Hardy seems to be in a lot of movies.

I watched this yesterday, and what a very weird movie. It really did not make sense whatsoever, was very surprised cause Daniel Craig usually makes good movies. out of

Cowboys vs Aliens

Was not convincing enough. I guess growing up with alien movies that are nearly always set in the future, maybe the leap to the past was too much. Harrison was dissapointing too.

Laurel Canyon. I really like Lisa Cholodenko's work but this one missed the mark despite a few nice moments and generally good dialogue. The affairs that were at the centre of the plot were just too clichéd and silly.

One long Navy Seal commercial. Fortunately it recognizes its weaknesses.

Flimsy plotline with an ending intended to pacify its strongest critics.
