Le Grand Bleu (Luc Besson)

heart

If you can, make sure you get the French version, not the re-edited, "happy-ending" - ified American version. I first saw this in France and was so excited when it played at an indi film house in Chicago. I went and was sorely disappointed that it was in English and it wasn't the same as what I saw in France...

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

is that what you mean?

earth sounds interesting, fire sounds maybe a bit dated as i'm not sure if the taboo is that strong these days, not sure about water

The Artist (2010 - Even though it's a silent film with English titles, it's still a foreign film)

Pepe Le Moko (1937 - French)

Wings of Desire (1987 - German)

Metropolis (1927 - German)

Seven Samurai (1954 - Japanese)

Coco Avec Chanel (2009 - French)

The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928 - French)

Monsoon Wedding (2001 - Indian)

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It's got the guy who was in Host and it's about the DMZ between north and south Korea.

It's an excellent film.

i got a few more of the suggested movies such as the host and cell 211 but haven't watched them yet, but i finally watched the directors cut of brotherhood of wolfs and it was pretty good. miles better than i expected as it was more an oscar worthy period drama than horror flick

it's interesting to see some of the same titles pop up, and ones i've heard of before, so those are usually what i'm grabbing first, particularly if they appear on a list of a bunch of other movies i've already seen and liked. one day i'll maybe get through them all

yeah elite squad. the original title translated means elite troop so i got the name mixed up. there's a sequel that follows the story a few years on which is just as good. these are action flicks as good if not better than anything from hollywood

I own the first 'Elite Squad.' I'd like the sequel. Have you seen the Brazilian film,

'Bus 54?' Very good also.

do you men the bus 174 documentary? i have it but not watched it yet
