I'll take the thick one every time.

I don't really get the grown woman with the body of a 12 year old look.

I have no problems with the larger of the two models except for her belly.

I like curves, but I don't think this woman is the standard for beauty either, as I think a HEALTHY body looks best, and a lot of belly fat is not healthy.

That being said, I don't find the smaller model attractive either.

Anorexia is a problem in the fashion industry.

However, I think people who have gazelle like bodies shouldn't be chastised.

I mean, people can harp on about how beauty comes in all sizes but

fit or thin folks seldom opt not to go to the beach because of how they

look in a bathing suit. I've known plenty of supposed self-accepting folks

who've done just that.

I do believe that the concepts of what is beautiful are dangerously narrow (no pun intended),

but we can expand (no pun again) that view without labelling gazelle-like people

freaks and unhealthy, can't we?

And like its been said on here many of times, runway models are not the standard for HOTNESS by any means. They model clothing. They're not hot.

That is news to me.

Most women are critical of their breasts and breasts that are shown in the media are usually fake because if breasts aren't perfectly rounded and defy gravity they are considered ugly. Breasts in which the nipples point downward or are not centered are never considered "desireable". Those women are seen as having "old tits"... even if she is only in her twenties.

Large natural and BIG (DD or larger) are never shown... expect in porn. Natural BIG tittays HANG they don't stick up and out.

Media only wants to show "perky" breasts.

True but you now see actresses and singers adopting that standard for their "image".

THAT was what was plastered allo ver magazines for years, and I never understood the appeal.

Heroin chic wasn't even an interesting look except when Prince rocked it.

Another strange comment.....How did Kate Moss not look like a woman?

What are you all talking about? Voluntary body weight, or involuntary breast size?

I don't think thats anything new. In fact I think it was far worse back in the 90s with the whole heroin chic thing.

I believe curves have been making a comeback in the 2000's.

That's a brave photo to take, I hope fellow won't denigrate it into the usual sexual muck GD is known for. How honestly can we as consumers reverse this trend and make it more believable for us.

I added a link ... the comments are interesting.

I believe this article follows the photoshoot pic of a model bearing it all (average woman also) was pictured in Glamore a while ago.

I need to find that pic...

found it!

I agree with you, I wonder if I am so used to looking at rail thin models and actresses that these normal women look "fat" to me...

instead of looking normal.

[Edited 1/12/12 17:25pm]

I remember this pic. nod I'm all for promoting good health via diet and excercise. Whether that be for people to start eating period..lol .....or over eaters to eat healthier.

But lets remember the definition of the word model.....it's certaintly not used to describe 'average'.

I completely agree with this.

Models and actors are paid to look prettier than the rest of us, and I fail to see why they should be chastised for it.

It's their job.

It's not like I want Cindy Crawford to do dental work on me, or Tyson Beckford to do my taxes. I want them to appear on magazines and look pretty.

I think the problem is when the look of them is so narrow, and so ultra-young. Youth obsession is....strange to me.

Yeah really. The thin obsession doesn't bother me. It's the obsession with youth. .......since I can't obtain that. sigh

Kate Moss's most famous pictures, the CK ones, etc. always made her look like she was 15 years old.

Ahh, so like the "12 year old" commenter, you must be implying her breast size was too small, like I thought. 'Cause I'm sure her having a youthful face isn't what you were referring to, nor her being slim (considering old women with large breasts can have thin arms/legs just like she did). Well, I think that's unfair to say, since Kate was not totally flat, and no matter what she ate to gain weight, her cup size would not have changed. However, I can relate to your perspective, since, for example, and no offense to you, but I think voluntarily soft, out-of-shape men under 50 years old without visible/cut muscles also look like pre-teen females from the waist up/neck down. So we're all entitled to our opinions, and I can respect yours. Thanks for at least explaining, and not replying to my question with a question. lol
