Any New Year's superstitions?

I'm not big on those rituals that you're supposed to do to ring in the New Year with luck.

BUT I am so anxious to make 2012 a good one, that I went out and bought all new clothes to wear for New Year's Eve...everything from my socks to my tie is brand new.

Everything except my belt and my glasses actually... hmm

Also, I'm wearing as much YELLOW as possible. My shirt is yellow, my ties, undies and socks have yellow.

At the stroke of midnight, I'm gonna eat 12 grapes - one for each coming month of the new year.

So what about you?

question

I've heard of the superstition that where ever you are at or doing at the stroke of midnight when the ball drops, then that's pretty much how you'll be spending your year. I've found this to be false though.

I spent New Year's with my family and was clearly drunk by the time we watched the ball drop at midnight on television. We toasted and then someone put on the "Planet of the Apes" movie. I'm gonna tell you something, "Planet of the Apes" is NOT a movie to watch while you are drunk. Watching apes grunt and jumping all around, made me want to throw up. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Probably same reason sheets are white in hospitals, you can bleach and boil all the bloodstains out - just in case you don't dodge a stray bullet on NYE

Me too! It sounded like a war zone around here from about 12:00 to 12:15... more than I'd heard in recent years... it was completely crazy!

I've been here for years normally it's kind of quiet maybe a random shot here or there but this is the first year I have seriously considered moving, it was insane this time like a frikkin war zone.

good luck mostly. a lot of people don't realize how much african influence there is in brazil. "black magic" is a very popular religion there. here are some photos of people in white.

in my family on the first day of the new year we call each other up and yell 'rabbit!' at each other.

the first one to 'rabbit' everyone else has the luck for the year. or first person every month, because this tradition is good on the first day of every month. biggrin

New Years' rules...

The first person to enter your home on NY day must be male for good luck.

Never wash or sweep on NY day or you will sweep someone out of your family.

You're supposed to eat hopping john, fish and greens.

I heard about the grape thingy too. biggrin

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.
