Has anyone here had the measles? Was it red measles or german measles? Describe the horror

The only encounter I've ever had with measles was when I had my first baby and every time he moved I looked it up in this big medical book I had to make sure he wasn't dying.

I remember he had a rash and I looked it up and it looked like measles so I called the pediatrician and they laughed at me and said nobody gets the measles anymore. shrug lol

They shouldn't do that, some people still do if there are small outbreaks where people have not been vaccinated. There was also a big controversy years ago about mom's not wanting to give their babies the vaccine cause they believed those to cause autism, thanks to a journal article about a study suggesting a link printed in the mid 90's that was recanted, but the damage was done.

Turns out it wasn't measles but ya I agree they shouldn't have laughed. I believe they did tell me to keep an eye on him and if I was still concerned they'd get him in, but don't remember exactly.

Yeah, the whole vaccination/autism thing is scary. Theres also links to vaccines being the cause of SIDS now.

I had measles when I was a kid. Besides the fever, itchy blotches, and feeling out of it I didn't have to go to school and my Grandmother spoiled me.
