Mugger chooses wrong victim: MMA fighter
Anthony Miranda / photo from Cook County Sheriff's office Updated: December 5, 2011 12:25PM A convicted felon chose the wrong victim when he tried to rob an MMA fighter Friday night on the Southwest Side and ended up with two black eyes and a gunshot wound to the ankle.
Police say 24-year-old Anthony Miranda walked up to a parked car near 55th and Kenneth about 11:30 p.m. and asked the driver—whose identity was not released by police—for a lighter.
When the driver said he didn’t have one, Miranda allegedly pulled a handgun, pointed it at the driver and demanded money. After getting some money, he ordered the driver out of the car, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
At some point, Miranda’s attention was diverted and the victim was able to grab control of the gun and the two wrestled.
During the fight, Miranda accidentally discharged his gun, shooting himself in the ankle, Mirabelli said.

So it wasn't enough to get the money, he wanted the car too? I'm glad the MMA fighter didn't get shot and I'm glad this perp got his ass whupped. People just need to know how to fight back and take these wannabe thugs/gangsters down a notch. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
