Rosetta Stone Has anyone used Rosetta Stone to learn a language?
Was it worth the money.
Did you find it helpful? I'm firmly planted in denial

I love Rosetta Stone. Um, but I didn't pay for it.

And yeah, I found it helpful. It is pretty kickass.
You are instantly doing stuff instead of running practice drills.

What language have you attempted/learned?
Did the program really make it easier? I'm firmly planted in denial

Spanish and Dutch. I've tried other programs to learn Spanish and it is definitely easier with RS.

Cool!
I've been thinking of getting it for my daughter. She wants to learn Japanese. I'm firmly planted in denial

Yes, it was really good. I did it for a couple of weeks brushing up on high school level French in 2004. Really easy to use, & both visual & audio repetitive tasks really help it sink in to the old grey matter. I'm totally crap at foreign languages but this was really useful. Spent that New Years in an old country house in the Dordogne in France wi a bunch of very inebriated Frenchies. T'was magic!

I would love to use it to speak fluent Spanish and Italian, but I can't afford it. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

that's what I want to learn....mostly because to understand japanese video games and watch anime without subtitles "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
