When I first saw this I thought it was a little funny... not because of what happened, but because this man is whooping a grown woman.. or almost.. I didn't know the background but once I found it out I felt bad. He kept beating her... I mean.. I know I got whooped like that one good time and never broke that rule again, I'll never forget it! Maybe he thought it would work with his daughter... idk what to say whoopings are normal in my world.. but she is too grown for that.

Yo Dave. You're 180 degrees from what Texas is really like.

That guy is absolutely not the typical Texan in any way, shape or form.

Do you want to know how cool Texas is?

Prince owns a house not far from me, and a ranch about two hours away.

Come down here some time and I'll show you how the West was won!

Texas may be nice landscape-wise and all and, thank you, if I've got the cash and time, I'd gladly take a look at another part of the world!

But, to me, capital punishment is where it starts and already ends too. disbelief

That's for another discussion though! lol

Of course not most people living there are stupid like that, but if you want to find this type, people (who've been there) would usually advise you to look in Texas. lol

So what's the problem?

In the Black community we called that a whooppin'. When my parents gave out licks, they'd ask you do bend over too. If you didn't like this young woman didn't, they start swinging and the licks landed wherever. Looking at the video I don't see her father going anywere above her butt. What we also don't know is what stunts she's pulled for it to come to this. Teenage years can be hard and some kids come to believe their home is like Burger King, "Have it My Way". Please, much to do about nothing.... carry on.

Well hell, if he didn't hit her with a belt, then what the hell is he supposed to hit her with....a feather? And she screamed, well hell, ain't that what you do when you get a whoopin'. Hell, I used to start screaming before the belt even came down and touched me.

Damn right. You start that hollerin' before it even starts hoping they'll forget the whole thing because they hate all that hollerin'. And when they went through with it, I used to sit there and whine and moan for 30 or 45 minutes afterwards because I knew it got on their nerves. Plus, it might make them dread the next whoopin' because they knew what was in store for them the next time they whooped me. People say, use psychology on kids, that shit didn't work with me because I flipped the script and used to use it on them. I was a mean little devil. lol

I am honestly shocked at how many of you were, from what I've read, severly physically punished as kids. I'm not saying my mam never smacked my backside when I was little, but that's all it was. One short sharp smack on the bahookie & to my recollection my father never, ever struck me. But you guys being hit with belts & canes & God knows what else... is completely abhorent to me. IMHO that is an adult who is out of control with anger/adrenaline & on a power trip. Of course kids need discipline but I think inflicting that much physical pain is outrageous & uncalled for.

A poem my parents used to have hanging in the kitchen...

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to feel discouraged

If a child lives with hostility, she learns to feel angry

If a child lives with violence, he learns to feel afraid

If a child lives with dishonesty, she learns to feel suspicious

If a child lives with judgement, he learns to feel guilty

If a child lives with ridicule, she learns to feel ashamed

If a child lives with disorder, he learns to feel confused

If a child lives with disappointment, she learns to feel helpless

If a child lives with silence, she learns to feel lonely

BUT

If a child lives with protection, she learns to feel safe

If a child lives with honesty, he learns to feel trustful

If a child lives with peace, she learns to feel calm

If a child lives with sharing, he learns to feel thankful

If a child lives with understanding, she learns to feel encouraged

If a child lives with laughter, he learns to feel happy

If a child lives with creativity, she learns to feel inspired

If a child lives with choice, he learns to feel free

If a child lives with community, she learns to feel supported

If a child lives with accomplishment, he learns to feel confident

If a child lives with meaning, she learns to feel fulfilled

If a child lives with love, he learns to feel tender

There are some great comments in here and I respect everyone's views but um....have y'all seen this chick's recent interviews and the statements from her papi?

He was supporting her deadbeat ass. Sorry but the whole family is dysfunctional and I can't put the blame solely on the father. From his statements, his in car interview, and her appearances on the Today Show and Anderson Cooper....this heffa needed a butt whoopin! She doesn't want to go to school, she really doesn't want to work, she had her dad AND her boyfriend supporting her and on top of that she's a liar and a thief. disbelief And fuck me but that woman does not look or sound like she has Cerebral Palsy and to my knowledge CP doesn't just magically go away. Plus there is something about her face that screams DECEIT!

Whatsinit4me

The 'spanking' doesn't look too bad to me for a 16yr old.

Now if the dad would of beat her with a belt that was dipped in water or with something made out of wood like a pool stick, then I would be concerned.

If someone beat on me like that I would defo feel an amount of trauma. eek

I think at the root of it all is that fact that physically hurting another human being like that cannot be based on love. I'm afraid the emotions that cause those actions come from a far darker place. To me it sure ain't civilized & I can't see how we as human beings are supposed to evolve & move forward when we allow such anger to come from inside & lash those we love in such pain.

Spare the rod, spoil the child. I've seen kids that I grew up get spanked with extension cords or switches. They turned out fine. My mother made me, and my siblings get our own switch from the bushes before she spanked our behinds. If that switch was too light, she got it for us lol. We turned out fine. That belt was light action.

THE all-time worst whipping that I ever received from my mother (may YHWH have mercy on that woman soul!) was with an extension cord when I was age 8.

Like a total smart ass, I've once hid the belt AND the taped wooden paddle in an attempt to not get a whipping for taking food without asking and hiding the leftovers behind the refrigerator. When my mother failed to find either one, she went for the extension cords. Be as it may, she took the original concepts of disciplining and went too far when she beat the living hell out of me all over my buttock AND legs.

If or when I ever have children of my own, I will never use an extension cords to discipline them because that is physical abuse.

Yeah, you have to make that extention cord your very last resort, nowadays. Even now, you'll go to jail for just slapping these rugrats. This happened to this 73 year old grandmother from Florida. She spent one night in jail because her granddaughter bad mouthed her, and she slapped her. The granddaughter pleaded with the judge to drop the charges because she admitted for being wrong, and that she loves her grandma. This was televised around 2010.

If folks here cannot see beyond those crocodile tears and drama, they are blind as a bat, and gullible as sheep. She's a manipulative wench, and still a thorn in her father's flesh. Notice when he left the room, those crocodile tears stop, and its just the mother in the room? Then when she left, she got up like nothing hit her, and turned that tape off. Believe that it's abuse if you wish. She just sold America a bill of goods. Manipulation at work. I've said my peace.

P.S.- I do not condone the cursing, myself. He should have curb that.

Who cares? She got beaten with a belt. Nothing she could have done is justification for that.

Like I said, give me two minutes in a room alone with that guy. He'll never raise a hand to another human again.

Two minutes with her, and I wonder if you'll change your tune.

Lord, talk about trauma, this wasn't funny to me then but it's funny as hell now. After my mama done whooped my ass for something I did, it could be a few days or even a week or so later, and the subject might come up around the house through conversation about what I did, and while she'd be talking about it, I could hear her voice getting madder and madder, and sometimes she'd even say...."Every time I think about it, I want to whoop that little ass again".....

Me and my siblings were some mean little devils who fought with each other all the time so we enjoyed seeing the others getting in trouble. We were just like Dee and Raj on "What's Happening". Dee used to try to get Raj's ass in trouble. Once it seemed like my mother had finally forgotten about it, one of us would bring it up again in conversation so she'd get angry again while talking about it just to make the other sibling squirm. I tell ya, we were some mean little devils. lol
