I'm sorry... sad

I was pretty fortunate, but my parents have no electricity or heat.

I was out of work Monday & yesterday because there are trees and powerlines down everywhere, so the police and fire departments suggested that they cancel school due to safety concerns.

Two schools in the district are still closed because they have no power.

Hope everything comes back for you soon!

This storm was awful. We got lucky where I live 'cause we only lost power for a few minutes. Some of my friends that live 10-15 minutes away haven't had power since the storm and are being told it won't be back until Friday neutral There are still a bunch of downed trees and power lines around too.

What I do not understand is why such a minor dusting of snow caused such major damage in an area accustomed to snow

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Where?

In NJ, we got anywhere from 6" to 18".

It was heavy and slushy, so it broke off tree limbs and caused some to topple. With that, power lines were ripped down.

Plus it was extremely slippery.

Well...in Mass there are still people without power. i am not alarmed when I see a foot of snow...I feel that in this region we should be used to it and be prepared. What was so different this time around? Why so many people still in the dark and cold?

Over a foot is not a dusting.

The key word in that phrase is that YOU are not alarmed. wink

No one around here expected to be slammed in October. We figured that the weathermen were exaggerating. shrug

believe me...I wasn't expecting to get slammed in October either...but I did run out and grab some firewood. hell...I never did find my ice scraper and shovels.....somewhere in the shed behind the fall gardening supplies.

All the snow on already stressed trees WITH leaves still on them made the tree limbs break

This is the same as that ice storm we had years back... so the snow was just snow... the bad thing was that there were/are STILL leaves on the trees making for lots of downed power lines.

I do not think they could have prepared for this... other than re-do ALL powerlines to run underground. $$$$$$$$$

I hope your power is restored soon... too many have died because of this storm trying to stay warm.

hug Stay safe Adder.

lol

I didn't find my ice scraper either. I used an umbrella that was in my trunk. boxed

I think that thing is behind my grill that I had to throw in the garage quickly when the hurricane hit.

I really have to rearrange out there. disbelief

I am still in disbelief. What is the death toll now?

5?

A new couple was found dead this morning from carbon monoxide poisoning. They had no batteries in their detector and they used a propane heater to stay warm.

sad
