Return to San Andreas??? wtf, again?
hmm...this is bittersweet, another GTA game is ALWAYS good news, but I honestly think Rockstar is running out of ideas...
GTAIV was sweet but I was disappointed by the fact that used Liberty City (NY) again, destroying/ignoring the storyline of GTAIII; they could have easily used Chicago, or London, which makes me think, when will Rockstar use a major non-american metropolis for one of the GTA games?? (Paris, London, Rio, Mexico City, Tokyo, Hong-Kong, man that would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeet, etc)
returning to SAN ANDREAS (aka L.A.+SanFrancisco+Nevada/Vegas) seems cheap, and I fear they will ignore the storyline of Carl Johnson...
we'll see; of course, the game looks gorgeous and the missions will be a lot of fun, but I feel that they are just milking the cow, updating the "old" (not that old) GTA games for the next gen of graphics, and that's all...

I could see a GTA: clone city of any you've mentioned going on. I really don't care where they base the games, as long as the games are good. GTA is one of my all-time favorite franchises [every since GTA III, I've actually bought almost every game the day they were released. Even stood in line for GTA:SA & GTA IV {special Edition} ]... الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

I think they need to leave the USA: Miami, New York, L.A., San Francisco, LasVegas is good enough
I dream of a GTA: Tokyo

The trailer doesn't really turn me on. The first San Andreas took place in the 80's (I assume) and tge one looks like it more modern, I guess present day type stuff. I love the first San Andreas, though. surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water

Now I remember that there is a GTA game set in Tokyo, or China, I'm not sure
but it's a crappy DS game with the graphics/style/camera view of the old, very old GTA 2

GTA:SA took place in the early 90's. I played the GTA:SA to death [beat it 3 times]! الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

I'm so happy Rockstar is going back to the West Coast! GTA San Andreas was my favorite.
You won't be seeing CJ, though. When GTA IV came out, Rockstar said all the GTA III-era protagonists are dead by now.

I LOVED GTA IV and its episodes, especially The Ballad of Gay Tony. Can´t get enough of it and I think it´s a great idea that you can replay the missions again and again (in Gay Tony) instead of playing the whole game again. They should´ve made the main GTA IV game like that.
What do you mean when you say that they destroyed and ignored the GTA III storyline in GTA IV? I mean, it´s a whole new story with a new protagonist...or do you mean that Liberty City is architecturally different from the Liberty City in GTAIV? If so, I don´t really care because I haven´t played GTAIII yet and don´t think I will. Maybe if they do a remake.
Speaking of remakes...you seem to dislike the idea of revisiting older GTA games but I´d really love to see a new and revisited version of San Andreas and Vice City. I like those games but playing Vice City on the 360 Xbox sucks because the controller is slightly different, also the old graphics are difficult to accept once you´ve played GTA IV and Gay Tony, so...I hope they come out with some new and improved versions of Vice City and San Andreas.
The Halo franchise will see a drastically improved, revisited and totally remade version of the very first Halo: Combat Evolved game. Halo may not be everybody´s cup of tea, but I´m just saying....revisiting a good idea that worked and improving the graphics is not necessarily a bad idea. What sounds like rehashing and milking a good idea in the music biz and film biz ( like all those stupid Hollywood remakes) can actually be a very smart idea in the world of video games.
Prince remaking 1999 and the whole NTM ep were a joke, but remaking a video game with improved graphics is a good idea, don´t you think? The old school graphics of some games are a huge turn off for me, so I´d love to see some improved remakes. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I didnt play GTA San Andreas so I'm not too bothered....but I can see why people are seeing the San Andreas setting for number five as a bit lazy, especially when there were so many other great places they could have set it (totally agree with the awesome Tokyo suggestion!).
But GTA-IV was so good I'm just pleased we're getting part V so soon. Just hope they make the same leaps forward that IV did and dont just make another IV but set in San Andreas instead of Liberty City.
And is it just me or did the city look pretty lifeless in the trailer? Not alot of people about! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

I liked GTA IV, but to me, it was a notch below the PS2 GTAs, especially San Andreas. GTA IV didn't have the fun and wacky element that's been a part of the series. But give Rockstar credit - they brought back the wackiness with the Ballad of Gay Tony.
..and yes, I would love to see the GTA III universe(Liberty City, Vice City and SA) get the next-gen treatment. GTA III Liberty City is by far, the best map in the series.

I´ve just googled the Liberty City map of GTA III after reading your comment. I haven´t played GTA III yet so I don´t know...but yeah, the map looks different...like a whole different version of Liberty City. I guess that´s what Joe Tyler meant in his post above about destroying or ignoring the GTAIII storyline in GTA IV but I liked GTA IV so much that it doesn´t really bother me as long as it´s an improvement. But now that I´ve read your post I´m not so sure whether it is indeed an improvement because I know you are THE GTA fan here on the org, so I take your words very seriously. So tell me, what do you like so much about the GTA III map? Why is the best map? Some say San Andreas has the best map because it´s the biggest...I don´t know. I really liked the GTA IV map and the attention to details. I´d rather see a smaller but more detailed map.
The over the top factor probably wasn´t as strong in GTA IV as it was in GTA III or SA but I loved the gritty realism of GTA IV and it felt like being part of an interactive crime movie or drama, and any over the top gimmicks would have taken away that serious, realistic approach. Gay Tony went back to that and had more bombastic stuff PLUS a good storyline with outrageous characters plus you can replay the missions without having to play the whole game, which is a good idea. As far as fun and over the top ideas are concerned, I can see where the San Andreas fans are coming from , and I also understand why Miami Vice 1980s folks love Vice City, but , as a fan of crime movies, dramas and good dialogues, I really loved GTA IV and had gotten so accustomed to the characters that I really started to miss those folks a couple of days after I ´d finished the game. I still miss Roman, Little Jacob, Pat and his brothers and so on.... Guess I need to play it again or maybe get a life! " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! If you notice, there's a slight difference in color between GTA IV, the Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony(even though they take place in the same city) . TLAD has a sepia-like tone, BoGT is much brighter, and GTA IV is somewhere in-between.
I had more fun playing BoGT & TLAD than GTA IV - better weapons, more cars and harder missions. Yusef Amir is one of those classic GTA secondary characters(like Little Jacob, Badman, Phil Cassidy, Lance Vance and Cesar Vilpando). And Elizabeta Torres was one badass bitch. She had a small operation, but she kept it on lockdown.
It's hard to put into words what makes GTA III LC so great. You really have to explore it to appreciate how well-designed it is. I love the dark, dreary, urban landscape. If Rockstar ever put this on PS3, it would fly off the shelves.
I'd love to see a GTA episodes with Little Jacob and Badman as the main characters.

GTA III was pretty much original & a totally new experience. I didn't even like the GTA's that came before 3, but I know technology wasn't there yet to make it the way it was made for 3 as so on. BoGT was Dope though. I hated that one mission with the helicopter & having to shoot those boats on early on, but after I beat that mission, I was hooked! الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

Yes, the mission "Sexy Time" was pretty difficult. Liked it first, but got on my nerves real quick. But I still play it quite often because for some strange reason it feels good to sneak on that yacht and shoot those dudes and then steal the helicopter. The burning yacht looks impressive, too.

Yeah, that mission made me stop playing it for a couple of days. But then I thought, I'm pretty sure it can be beaten. Plus my little 13 year old cousin beat that mission before me, so I knew I had to step it up... الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

Yeah, 'Sexy Time' is the hardest BoGT mission. My strategy is waiting for those mfers to get on land, then I gun them down.
While San Andreas had its share of tough missions("Wu Zi Mu", "Farewell My Love", "Flying School", "Grove4Life"), the hardest GTA was Vice City Stories. Not only were those missions hard, but long too("Boomshine Blowout", "Jive Drive", "Unfriendly Competition", "High Wire", "Tune On, Tune In, Bug Out", "Light My Pyre").

My least favorite GTA map would probably have to be Vice City. Had to turn the brightness way down on that. Can't drive west (I assume) during the day in that damn game without the whole screen looking like a big ass bowl of sherbet.
And I liked the removal of the over the top stuff. I could do without jet packs and stuff. I did like the level of character customization in San Andreas though. I thought the fighting for turf was an interesting concept that could've been further developed.
GTA III was fun and all, but mute main characters are best left to RPGs.

I think Vice City had the best map too. Every map after that one was too big imo.... الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

well, GTAIV was, in fact, a non-official remake of GTAIII, feautring Liberty City again but with new characters/villians and better, post-Half Life 2 graphics. That's what I meant with the "destroyed storyline": GTA IV is not a sequel of GTAIII, it's a whole new universe/storyline. I can accept that, since GTAIII's history was definitely cartoonish, unlike IV which is basically as serious as any modern thriller...perhaps too serious...
but if they revisit San Andreas ignoring the stoyline of CJ, that will be sad, the original San Andreas was already perfect, and the graphics were already sweet...
and, as I've said, there are many other exciting as hell cities for the new GTA games...revisiting L.A. again is kinda meh...
