Mac Owners Hey, I bought my MacBook Pro last year for school and see that there is a Software update...Lion? or something (I'm really not technologically inclined). Anyone using it? Is it worth the update?

Yep...I think so. I have it, and I like it.

I don't have lion yet, I only just got myself snow leopard I suppose I should look into it. Would it make any difference to me running CS5?

It is slower than Snow leopard, some of your apps wont work as yet. It's more of an update beta version to integrate icloud and facetime. If i were you i'd wait a few months till all the bugs and glitches get sorted out...

I've thought about updating to Lion but I'm running Pro Tools, and right now they are incompatible. I'd make sure that it's compatible with whatever additional software/programs you're running before updating. This is what you want...This is what you get.

It's the best version of OS-X yet, and in my opinion the best consumer operating system out there, period.
The problem is that it won't run Powerpro apps through emulation. Therefore, older software titles will not run.
I lost the ability to play my favorite RTS game, Ages of Mythology
Other than that, I use features like mission control, and the new iOS-style app screen all the time. I'm even getting used to the fact that when you open an app, OS-X remembers what state the last file was in that you openned it, and takes you to that file and place---I found this realy creepy at first, but am used to it now.
Overall, it's a completely wonderful NONESSENTIAL upgrade. Don't bother if you're happy with OS-X Snow Leopard or need legacy app support. They've already started coding OS X 10.8 anyway.
