I actually think the padding might be a bad thing because they hit each other with full force and it really doesn't prevent injuries. Steve Young got like 7 concussions wearing a helmet!

Regarding Baseball, Canada also has a team in MLB. Calling it "The World Series" is just a marketing tool use by the MLB and the fans know the difference.

there are professional leagues in south america and japan.

American Football is played with the teams starting the play apart from each other. In rugby most plays are started with a scrum. Therefore, in American football, the players are initiating contact at top speed. Rugby, not so much.

Actually, you know what Jony. I was reading an article about concussion and brain damage, and it said that playing with all that gear on like helmets lulls players into a false sense of security. They play harder and damage their brains more frequently and to a greater extent. Which is contrary to what one might be led to believe

Adding to all the padding is, as already mentioned, that there's a fucking advert-break every 5 minutes. To me, it's more of a show-spectacle than sports.

In Rugby, everybody has to run all the time, you are not allowed to pass the bass forwards with your hands (which makes you have to run and think even more) and there is no padding.

Football (real football, that is) is only was of the toughest sports in the world. You need absolutely technical prowess, while still being able to run at least 10 miles in 90 minutes AND tackle, be tackled, have an eye for the right pass, play that right pass, run in the right direction at the right time, think two steps ahead etc.

American Football really is an anti-sport compared to Rugby and Football.
