having lived in America for some time now, i would say that most Europeans sell American football short because of the pads and helmets. these men are just bigger, stronger and faster than rugby players. without the protection, the game would be fatal.

there are dozens of men the size of Jonah Lomu in the NFL.

biggrin Did you just turn your back on your country of birth? biggrin

You might be correct. Snooker is superior to pool though...

The last thing this should be is a war between two countries (which would be won by England anyway, because without them none of these sports would exist lol)!

I personally enjoy watching real football, the kind that uses a round ball and no spandex. I like to see the mens asses without padding.

I also like to watch Ice Hockey, I like to watch men with endurance knock the shit out of each other.

Did you get to see a game in a stadium when you lived in England? Did you like it?

I loved going to Ajax here in Amsterdam. The fans are crazy...good fun though

Oh yes, 3 days after I landed in the UK I was at my first match. It was awesome. Spurs v Villa

My two year old son has been to 2 matches. First one when he was 6 months old. I love being there, the energy is great. Same with Ice Hockey.

I don't get Cricket, I have respect for the game but it is too long of a game. Just like American football and baseball.

yawn

Nice. Yeah I always wondered how people get to watch a 5 day cricket match when they have a job.

I agree about the energy in football stadiums. It is quite an experience

Yes, but we thoroughly deserved too lose that one. We were outplayed the whole match. So, now we have lost three. Better luck next time

the premiership is shite now as well. the players are foreign, the managers are foreign, the owners are foreign. i'm not a xenophobe but it all seems like meaningless corporate nonsense now.

I get the gist of the op.

America "borrowed" sports from europe and then turned them into something it shouldn't be.

But to call American sports "sissified" is simply wrong and bait.

In fact I think most "american" sports are usually tougher than "european".

American rugby (as I prefer to call it) especially, but also ice hockey and basket ball.

I do agree with the op that rugby and real football are more interesting to watch than american rugby

there is more action and dynamics, but tactically american rigby can be really interesting

plus the crunches and the spurts

But I like real rugby better.

It's doubtfull which one is "tougher" because real rugby is without protection.

And that shit hurts real bad.

But like others said, they hold back therefore, while american rugby players do not.

These cats will find out how "sissified" football is once they but on pads and helmet, and try to avoid getting tackled by 275 lb. defensive linemen coming at them full speed. And looking to take your head off. lol
