Help! Copy protected cd stuck in car cd player Anyone have any ideas about how to get it out? Apparently the anti vibration technology in car cd players does not get along with the copy protection technology in some cd's (in this case Ultimate Kylie). I read that paperclips and tweezers were the way to go but that didn't work, I can't see or feel the disc in the player. I think the cd player is completely scrambled. When you push eject it sounds like it is switching between discs but then it just shuts off.
The big problem for me is that it is not my car that it is stuck in. It belongs to a co-worker who I am not particularly close with and now I am in a bit of an awkward situation.
If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. At this point I do not care about damaging the disc but obviously I would like to get it out without doing any harm to the cd player.

try googling the make and model and add "remove cd" or "stuck cd". there may be a pinhole on the front of the drive that will force the disc out if you stick in a paperclip, or a combination of buttons to press, such as hold eject whilst you power on and it will force out discs
or you could just leave the cd and buy another copy second hand from amazon marketplace or something

Try disconnecting your car's battery and reconnect it about 20 minutes later. The radio cd player usually resets itself and usually you should be able to push eject and retrieve your cd. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Thanks for the input. I will try both suggestions.

Seriously?! This is somebody else's car you all are talking about messing around with! If the stereo is factory equipment, you need to take the car to a dealer, tell them what happened, and let them figure out what to do. And it goes without saying that you are financially responsible. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Hmmm...you can't see it, can't feel it and it won't eject ...are we sure you've got the right car?

I used to have a judgmental CD player in my old car...snapped a couple in two then spat them out like a petulant kid

The ironic thing is that we were just about finished, it was a three hour trip and we had about ten minutes left and she said she wanted to hear some Kylie. Sigh, if only we had continued listening to George Michael.

I had that happen and they were fucking useless
It was suggested to me to go to a car radio dealer and buy a new cd/radio player Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |

Well, then - let them be fucking useless. But you have to try them first. If the vehicle is under warranty, dicking around with anything yourself is the quickest, best way to void the warranty. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
