Sam Mendes has apparently cast relatively unknown French TV actress Bérénice Marlohe as the new Bond girl.

Daniel Craig will be returning as 007 in the 23rd film - now revealed to be called Skyfall.

Director Sam screentested Marlohe at Pinewood studios, along with Helen McCrory - known for playing Draco Malfoy's mother Narcissa in the Harry Potter films - who has also been cast in the film.

Javier Bardem will play the new Bond villain, Naomie Harris will play Miss Moneypenny and Dame Judi Dench will return as M. Ben Wishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Harry Potter star Helen have all been cast in unspecified roles.

The film is reportedly going to be filmed in locations including India and South Africa.

The new Bond movie is set for a 2012 release, marking the 50th anniversary of the successful secret agent series.

Call him Bond, James Bond?

Though Daniel Craig is about to embark on his third adventure as 007, speculation already abounds as to who will replace him. One name that has been the subject of intrigue is Idris Elba, the English actor best known for his role as intellectually fierce drug king Stringer Bell in HBO's landmark series "The Wire." That would make him the non-white James Bond -- an idea which Craig himself first suggested after Barack Obama was elected president back in 2008 -- and something Elba endorsed, if mildly, in an interview with the Guardian in 2009.

"Do I think it will happen? No, but I've got what it takes to do it. I can run around, flirt with ladies and drink. Plus I'm English," he told the newspaper.

Two years later, he's still keen on the idea, though he has a few reservations.

"It's a very old rumor. My dad and I were talking about this the other day," Elba told CNN in an interview Wednesday. "I would do it, but I don't want to be called the first black James Bond. Do you understand what I'm saying? Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond."

Elba is certainly building up the resume. He nabbed two Emmy nominations this year, for his guest role in "The Big C" and his lead in the BBC mini-series "Luther," and has starred in films such as 2009's "Obsessed" and this summer's "Thor." He'll next feature in the upcoming Ridley Scott film, "Prometheus."

The British actor took over from Pierce Brosnan in 2006's Casino Royale, reprised the role in 2008 with Quantum of Solace, and is signed on to film two more Bond films after the latest film, currently known as Bond 23, wraps.

Financial problems within MGM meant that Sony bought the rights to the classic spy series earlier this year, but with Bond 23 not being released until October 2012, estimates suggest that the 25th Bond installment might not be made until 2020, by which time Craig would be 52.

As a result, Craig told MTV News that he wouldn't be surprised if the latest 007 outing turned out to be his last.

Bond 23 will be directed by Sam Mendes, with Javier Bardem taking on the role of the villain.

Adele will contribute the theme tune.

I came across this US magazine article from this week and they listed him as married. Plus doesn't he have a new baby not the one with his ex-wife?
