OK so this whole process began about a month (or a bit more) back but I didn't want to post too much on it till something solid came through. I was feeling a bit dragged down and like I've taken things almost as far as I can from an in-home studio (I also felt I needed to be working among other artists) so I applied and was juried into the Workhouse Arts Center. Ron and I moved me into my new space over the weekend and today was my first full day there (I'm still setting my space up).

I'm having a Grand Opening next month.

I think vainandy said this (either to me or on here) after I spoke to him on the phone.

Their website can use some work IMO, but they are revamping I've been told. For example (just my mouthy opinionated self), the place is so awesome, I don't get why there are practically no images of it on the website.

We pay rent.

- How long can you stay?

I was offered choice of 1, 2 or 3 year lease. I chose 2. Provided there are no issues, it is my understanding that once juried in, there is no limit as to how long an artist can hold a studio there.

Yes. We do individual promotion, but the Workhouse promotes as well.

- Do they warehouse artist's materials at a discount to you?

There is an art supply shop on site. I have not visited it yet but have been wanting to go get some yummy paints n stuff. I don't think we get any discount, but I heard the prices are reasonable (I was afraid they would be more expensive due to convenience of being on-site)

This place is monstrous. Lawd I wish there was a set up like this in my hometown.

I am very fortunate, as an artist, to have this near me. It takes me 20 or so minutes to get to work.

I had a vision for the space (as I often do when painting a wall/room) so I could imagine the color broken up/balanced with the white shelving. But when there was nothing there and I was just rolling that green on the wall folk would come by and be like or
