Girl 6

Okay so HBO has been playing the hell out of this movie this month for some odd reason, and its one of those awful movies that I can't help but to watch when it comes on. Maybe its because of the music. lol But there are a few things that don't make sense, okay so at the end Girl 6 moves from NY to LA for yet another failed audition. Okay so she moved to LA for what then? Seems like she's still an unemployed hungry actress. And what was up with the phones falling from the sky when she was kissing her ex-husband goodbye when she was leaving NY??? I thought that was kind of corny. I always kind of wished Theresa Randle would had gotten better roles because she's such a good actress, but this movie...lawd.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I saw this movie last week on HBO lol In 1996 when it was first released,I thought it was a cool film. But I don't know....I guess it hasn't aged well? I now see alot of flaws when I watch it.Some of the scenes are funny, some are dramatic, and some are just weird! It's a strange little movie.

It's fun hearing the Prince songs throughout but sometimes it seems as if Spike Lee chose the wrong songs for certain scenes."Sometimes It Snows In April"?? Come on now....that song is strictly about the death of Christopher Tracy at the end of UTCM.It doesn't fit in Spike's movie!

love the Madonna cameo razz

Yeah there were parts in the movie that didn't fit with the main plot like the whole little girl getting injured in the elevator shaft and how Isaiah Thomas' character had that klepto problem. Nonetheless I'm still drawn to this movie. Lol.

My mom was watching TV the other day and says to me; "I've seen this movie before - she's crazy." Suddenly Prince music starts playing, I hit the "info" button on the remote, and sho-nuff it was "Girl 6".

I love it cuz it's kinda avant garde. There are tons of movies with white characters that are "artistic" and it's just accepted. So I love watching something similar featuring black folks and Prince music for a change. A movie doesn't have to make sense for me to enjoy it. I watched it this morning at 3 am. tv

Its not such bad film. Its kind of quirky especially with Theresa's character imagining herself in different roles. Her move to LA was typical of what a lot of would be actors/actresses do only to find themselves facing even more rejection than in NY. I felt the falling phones may have been Spikes' atristic way of letting the viewer know that not only was the lead actress saying goodbye to her career as as a phone sex operator but also reminding us of the difference between love and sex. Remember she thought she was falling in love with her caller "Bob Regular"? She realizes that there is no love over the phone. It was just a dream. twocents

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

nod Exactly. I thought it was symbolic of her hanging up on her past and having a new beginning.

"Girl 6" is worth watching just to see Theresa Randle. She's sexy & you see her boobies in it. Other than that, I'm not sure I would watch it more then once to be perfectly honest with you. Prince's music being involved doesn't make me care anymore for it either.

الحيوان النادلة ((((|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|)))) ...AND THAT'S THE WAY THE "TITTY" MILKS IT!

I thought the movie sucked and was sad Prince's music was used in it.

Your comment about it being avant garde though intrigues me. Don't know if it intrigues me enough to try to watch it ever again in life and see what it is about it that would be considered avant garde.

I have HBO, still, eventhough True Blood is off air for 9 stinkin' months, so maybe at some point I will watch Girl 6 again.

cool Everything ain't for everybody. With Girl 6 I welcomed the chance to see black actors portrayed in a new/different way. We rarely get that in mainstream, big studio pics like Girl 6. So for me it was refreshing. Sadly, there are even fewer films of ANY kind featuring black actors other than Tyler Perry films ( barf ) so I'll keep on cracking up at the weirdness/oddness of Girl 6 and be glad a black director was able to exercise his wacky vision. I wonder when that will happen again?

It's back on and I'ma catch the last 20 mins I love Michael Imperioli being the creepy guy. This movie is more like a series of vignettes rather than a linear kinda movie. Oh well popcorn

I thought the end scene with the falling phones was a nod to Sid & Nancy when they were in the alley kissing as all of the garbage was falling down around them, but the idea that her past job is gone and she's beginning anew sounds good to me. It's not the best of Spike's movies but it does fill the spot for an afternoon movie to watch when nothing else interests you.

Always loved the sequence in Girl 6 with her kinda "wandering" around Coney Island (I think)..with "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" playing. Song really fit the visual vibe, I thought.

the ending makes no sense with her even making out with isaiah washington's klepto behind let alone the phones lol. the movie holds a special part in my heart cuz it's what got me into princey, finding all the songs that weren't on the official soundtrack and getting into those albums as well. the movie itself is dope to me too. it's not perfect, but it has its moments, theresa randle is hot and a good actress and i'm a spike lee fan as well. most of his movies are weird and cool (oh, except she hate me cuz that shit is kinda awful or miracle at st. anna which i just couldn't get into, not a fan of war movies). i gotta watch it soon, haven't in a while cool. don't have hbo bored2

I felt the ending meant that she had become a strong woman, and was not going to degrade herself into stripping at the audition....where before her regular caller would degrade her and she would accept it because that's how she was making her money, when she got to LA she had turned over a new leaf, and was not going to take any b.s.

just sayin.

Now, that's one I CANNOT get thru mostly because I think the acting is atrocious and the plot, a bunch of beautiful lesbians demanding to fuck a dude, was too much of a self-indulgent male fantasy. rolleyes
