TO PRE-NUP OR NOT TO PRE-NUP...THAT IS THE QUESTION

Would you marry someone if they asked you to sign a pre-nup? Would you demand that your partner sign a pre-nup as a condition of marriage? Discuss.... coffee

They Say: Jennifer Hudson’s Wedding Plans Stalled By Punk’s Refusal To Sign Pre-Nup…

There’s a reason David “Punk” Otunga has been M.I.A. by Jennifer Hudson’s side and it has absolutely nothing to do with his wrestling career.

J-Hud and David have been perpetually engaged since 2008 and even have a 2 year old son, David, Jr. but it’s a rare occurrence these days to see them photographed together.

Jennifer recently revealed in an interview that she has a wedding date in mind and has even chosen a dress, but according to several online sources she may not have a groom anymore!

Word on the curb is that Jennifer wants Punk to sign a pre-nup and he has flat out refused.

[David] didn’t want to sign a pre-nup, and so they put the wedding on hold.

Personally, I'd sign one, assuming it was presented to me in the right way.

It should just be law that an accounting is made of what you have before the marriage.

Anything earned after the marriage is automatically split 50/50 and you walk away with whatever was yours before you said your vows...

as fair as fair can be... smile

If they will split everything 50/50 upon getting married then why doesn't he sign unless the pre-nup is somehow unfair and possibly leaves him with nothing?

On the other hand....why would you want to marry someone if you don't trust that they truly love you and if you already know that in the event of a divorce you will leave them penniless?

In the meantime they continue to live together, have sex, and co-parent. neutral

I think she doing the right thing.

If he doesn't want to sign the pre-nup, it's a good thing she isn't giving in just to be able to get married with the guy. She is protecting herself as she should.

I have protected my assets against greedy men. And I found out that there are a lot of greedy golddigging men out there.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I would sign a pre-nup and not be offended at all.

I just don't want to end up with someone's debt because he was spending recklessly during our marriage. Is there such a thiing as a during-nup?

On the one hand it seems very unromantic and untrusting (is that a word) to ask for a pre-nup. BUT, on the other hand sh*t happens and people fall out of love.

He may truly love her and have her best interest at heart...RIGHT NOW. But, the pre-nup is not for RIGHT NOW.

It's for after "we've been together a few years and you've been there and done that a million times and now want to go over there and do something else with someone else"

At this point she'll probably want him to go too, but NOT with her money.

Of course the relationship could actually last til death due them part......

This is laughable but, if I were to be engaged to someone who was a multimillionaire ( lol ) I would assume that he would want me to sign a prenup and I would sign it without question. If I did not like it I would ask it to be tweeked a bit.

Now does the man not want to sign any prenup or they simply do not have one in place that they both like?

I mean think about it, I am 50, if I meet a man who is 53 and a multimillionaire and the marriage lasts for 15 years, I still do not think that I deserve half of his purple kingdom when I did nothing to make any of it happen in the first place.

I do not see how this guy in any way helps her career. He isn't giving up his career to be with her. Back in the day, rock stars would date models and sometimes the model would loose out on big bookings because she was following her man on tour. Now that may need to be compensated for. But I don't see that happening with this case at all.

Yes, you can do a post-nup. But I don't know how that protects you from debt incurred by one partner.
