HIGH Blood Pressure

I saw my doctor today because I was having constant head / ear aches. They checked my bloody pressure and it was 180/100. eek They discovered I had an ear infection (fluid in the ears) plus the added stress of taking care of terminally ill relative for 18 months may be playing a part in the increase blood pressure. I'll have to take some test next week so we can sort it all out. Anywho, they gave me a prescription for the headaches, high blood pressure, and xanax ... biggrin My partners insisted I take a couple of weeks off. biggrin

Don't leave out the org. I'm sure this place has contributed to high blood pressure in some people.

I know how that is taking care of a terminally ill relative. That can raise your blood pressure big time and I already have high blood pressure to begin with and have been treating it with medicine for years. Right after my mother died, my doctor prescribed me some Xanax also and I rarely took any. I only took one when I felt I needed it because I've seen people addicted to them and I know my ass could probably become addicted to them if I took many of them.

The time off is going to do you the best.

Actually, when I'd get in a big fight with someone on the org, it used to make me feel better because it got my mind off my real problems in the real world. lol

hmmm That actually makes sense. Maybe TD3 needs to spend more time on here. Already this thread is full of positive thoughts. Good point Andy!

sorry to hear this....i hope it goes down. my son & hubby are both on meds for high blood presure (it runs in the family)

its a constant worry & not to mention EXPENSIVE as shit. one thing they noticed is its always HIGHER when they are in the drs office or hospital. maybe you can buy a BP cuff or monitor & check yourself at home.

good luck.

Feel better soon and take your meds well. I have similar symptoms and the same thing in my family, but was found to be okay though I also told them I'm dealing with a very stressful situation.

my mum and my sister are both on beta-blockers

my maternal grandfather died in his 40s from untreated essential hypertension

mine is under careful supervision, since it shot up with all 3 pregnancies

yesterday I spent the day in the hospital and was monitored on the hour, for 6 hours

it hovered around 115/75 except for when the SOB came in to bother me rolleyes and it went up to 122/81 lol

and has anyone here experienced ill effects from their BP meds. My mother has tried at least a half dozen and we still can't find one suitable. Seems she's allergic to the fillers, but no one (pharmacist or dr) can identify the fillers - manufacturers will not divulge. First it was severer headaches and ringing in the ears, now its a horrible case of hives. Any suggestions more than welcome.

there is one that gives you a irritated feeling in your throat and cough eek

my husband's aunt suffered for 6 months with it before they asked if she was on a BP med

The only trouble my mum has had is hers lowers her BP so much that it has actually been TOO low at times.

Dr Oz had a 700 lb woman on his show a couple days ago, she had the exact same blood pressure as you. The meds will help lower it, but it's still a good idea to try and lower it naturally. Proper diet is important, but nothing is more important than exercise. It will likely relieve stress, lower your cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, increase your serotonin, and increase oxygen flow to your brain which will help your mind stay sharp. If your doctor will allow you to do cardio, I highly recommend it. Best of luck to you, I wish you good health.

It ain't for sissies, that's for sure. My thyroid is borderline low and I need to decide whether I want to start treating it. It's really bugging me because I've always been able to say that I don't take any medications, at all. At my age, that's sort of a badge of honor.

On the other hand, I'd probably lose another 5 to 10 pounds. So that could be okay. lol

I've been treated for it for the past two years. Even after I lost a bunch of weight, the blood pessure issues still linger. If I miss a day without my meds, I check my pressure and it's sky high again. sigh

Take good care of yourself. This shit ain't no joke.

Thanks for the well wishes and advice, noted. smile

The good news....

A. I'm no where near 700 pounds. lol

B. I won't be teturning back to work until after the New Year. highfive

I ended up at hospital in the emergency room in Kentucky because the HB presssure med, Lisinopril made be sick as a dog; my doc switched me to something else. It'll be touch and go until they/we figure out what's best for me. Even so,co-workers, my family, some friends, and neighbors did kinda of an intervention of sorts. lol I've been told it was obvious to them I was exhausted, stressed out and had become a tad "short" with everyone. I got up today walked for 30 minutes and later on this evening I'll walk for 30 minutes and just relax.

I can totally understand the "shortness", it's very common with stress. Have you tried a hand squeeze stress reliever? They really do help, as do most non-barking pets.

Glad to hear you're walking and taking time off from work to relax, keep us updated if you can.
