Thanks! biggrin

That painting should be completed in the next few days. It is becoming one of my favorites for a number of reasons, including it is the first large piece I'm completing in my new studio (working on that scale was tough in my tiny home studio).

It will definitely be available for purchase. nod

I will have it photographed in order to offer it as a print also.

No need to worry. John's art studio turns into a leather bar after 11pm every night.

LOVE that first pic John!!

can i ask a couple of questions?

What would a painting that size be priced at?

When you are standing in front of that huge empty canvas, how does your thought process go? Do you have an idea and then go to the canvas?

What kind of medium do you use?

What do you do with a painting that say, you have started but turns out your not "feeling" it? Do you scrap it, or paint over it?

THANKS!

can i ask a couple of questions?

I guessssssssss rolleyes

What would a painting that size be priced at?

Don't usually know until it's complete but this size $2000-$2500 range.

Forget the actual size (have to remeasure) but it's actually too large to work on properly on the easel. The photographer had me put it there for the pic, but I'm completing it on a large table against a wall.

When you are standing in front of that huge empty canvas, how does your thought process go? Do you have an idea and then go to the canvas?

Most of my paintings usually begin with words. It's like the writer (my initial love and what I was sure I was gonna be professionally) is still in there providing the inspiration for the paintings. Once I start to add color or lines to a canvas, the process is like solving a puzzle (for me). I decide what the next element is and then I let that guide me towards the next, until the full picture is complete. I take a lot of notes, phrases I hear or titles that come into my head to use as reference too.

What kind of medium do you use?

Mostly acrylics because I have no patience to wait for oils to dry and too much of a control freak to have watercolors going all over the place. But I also add collage and other media to some pieces.

What do you do with a painting that say, you have started but turns out your not "feeling" it? Do you scrap it, or paint over it?

I paint over that bitch.
