I used to put moth balls in an area that I landscaped next to the house cuz my WT neighbor let his cats run the town and they liked to pee in my mulch mad mad And of course since none of the cats were fixed the pee reeked! mad mad

The cats didnt like the smell so they quit coming over there!! The down side is right under my window smelled like an old ladies chest of drawers but no more cats!! biggrin

Never heard of that. Can you put the balls on the soil itself or does it need to be in a container so they don't harm the plants? Moth balls are cheap, they even have them at the 99 cent store.

I read to put them in a jar and poke holes in the jar. But that is not for the plants' sake, it is for the cat's

I just set them on the mulch, there werent to many plants other than small shrubs so Im not sure if it would hurt the plants?? You could bury a container a bit in the ground and put the balls in it if you are worried about plants... And yes, it was a cheap easy fix and noone got harmed! lol

I just can't understand, there are 20-30 people surrounding this parking lot. Aren't they bothered by this too? Could it just be me?

Somebody's feeding that cat, it would have no other reason to be that punctual everty day. You got an enabler to contend with.

What I think is happening is that first thing in the morning this cat's owner lets it out and another person lets theirs out, and this cat howls at the other cat.

The cat must be a male... its territorial.

Reclaim your territory by placing orange peels around your window. Cats hate oranges. Also mint and herbs will attract any cat, so if there is a sage, mint, or other herbs growing then the cat will like that spot. Pull up any salvia or type of plants if you can.

Oh and cats hate cayenne pepper... mix with water in a spray bottle and spray the area the cat likes to lay in and drop the orange peels. Cats will leave that spot... and you'll be eating a healthy snack that has vitamins and fiber. biggrin

DO NOT FEED STRAYS ... EVER! Feed them, you also feed other animals ... some that may be pests.

what if I pee all around my building? smile

I am definitely considering the pepper option, even if it doesn't work, it is worth a try

If I could block certain key entry spots, I could probably fix the problem

Orange peels work better... my mom got rid of 8 cats that way. They chilled under her window and made her flower bed their litter box. barf

My mom started dropping orange peels... NO CATS.

Your pee will attract them... they don't mind that smell. feeling ill

I'll have to see if the landlady will let me put down peels. I think spraying pepper water would be easier to do.

You don't have to tell her shit unless she's a busy-body.

Peels make great compost for plants and are biodegradeable. She may not even notice them.

If she bitches tell her you can get rid of slugs with beer.... a 1/2 full can of beer is the perfect slug trap. biggrin

Beer cans and orange peels... evillol

Ok OK... use the pepper spray.

Shake away ( fond here in most hardware/garden & pet stores )

" the powerful urine scent of the both the fox and the coyote. Once a cat gets wind of this odor, they will immedately know that your garden has now been claimed by a fox or coyote and the offending feline will head in the opposite direction and fast "

I used it down at the barn when we had a feral male cat wanting to move in the hayloft and within 3 days that bastid moved on and away !

It has always been beyond me how people can claim to love their cat but let them roam. It shortens their lives, puts them in all kinds of danger and even makes them prone to diseases! I had a cat for and I NEVER allowed him to roam. He lived for 15 years.

I agree, and I also don't understand how people think their pets should just be everyone else's problem, letting them shit in their yards, make a bunch of noise, kill birds, etc.

My cats are indoor cats. Well behaved ones at that. lol And they're clean as all get out (I'd post that in that other thread, but... I can't lol ). However, I'm not sure the indoor cat thing works for all people, or for all cats. I definitely don't think they should be allowed to live outside without being spayed or neutered AND tagged. In fact I think people should be fined for allowing that practice to continue. Like I said before, too many cats already. The world is being overrun with freakin' cats. Anyway... digression. So if you have an outdoor cat, you can't really control what it does as far as bird killing. I mean, that's a natural behavior. And pooping? I have to assume that's the reason a good number of people have outdoor cats - so they don't have to deal with a litter box.

I definitely understand why people have outdoor cats, and I think letting cats outside is nice, I just don't think your cat should always be outside. Why even have one in that case?

Some exceptions: if you have a farm and/or lots of land.

Like, with a food bowl on the patio? Totally agree. I had an indoor outdoor cat for 12 years. But he still had a box inside, ate all his food inside and spent most night inside.

I agree about the farm, but they still need to be spayed and neutered.
