Knowing full well that their beans have lard in them so they are not really vegetarian, when I occasionally get an urge to run for the border...

Bean Burrito and/or Tostada with green sauce. You have to ask for it because its not anywhere on any of their menus anymore. But they all have the green sauce and its SO much better than the red. I also order the Tostada Fresco because their rubber cheese sucks.

I usually get a Taco Salad minus the beans,rice,and sour cream,and a nacho cheese chalupa

I eat the salad,and then dump all the fillings from the chalupa into the taco shell,eat the flat bread,and then the inside of chalupa scooped up with the taco salad shell

They really need to make a taco sald with the spicy cheese sauce that they use in the chalupa's

They don't seem to make the Border Bowls anymore, and this makes me sad. They went past the "OMG am I rich or something" price range of the usual Taco Bell menu, but they were tasty.

So far so good. Probably about to go a few rounds with The Itis in a minute though.

Am I imagining things when I remember that Taco Bell used to have REAL Mexican food when I was a kid? (Late 70s-early 80s)

I distinctly remember them having bomb ass enchiladas.

I was jsut gonna say that..Bubble guts definately.

In my neighborhood Taco Bell's non-authentic Mexican food is assembled by real-life Mexicans, so there.

OK, I don't know for a fact that they are all from Mexico, but I do know that at least 3/4 of the folk behind the counter are from "south of the border" and that should count for something.

Now this is interesting. My first memories of Taco Bell were back when Batman '89 came out so I wouldn't know. The only thing I would eat there at the time was the cinnamon crisps (plus a big ass drink that came in a ballin' Batman cup).
