Do they have these on DVD now?

Yup, I checked. Amazon has them for reasonable prices.

I know it's cliche, but it really doesn't feel like exercise!

This may be my starting point! I am so not ready for all the stuff they have on the informercials late at night. I will kill myself doing that! If you saw me (my pic is only in the http://prince.org/msg/100/364132 thread) you'd know what I mean.

eek

I have to be really careful with exercise because of my disorder; I'm prone to injury, joint dislocations and I fatigue very easily.

I work with older, developmentally disabled adults, and lately we've been doing Richard Simmons' Sweatin' To The Oldies tapes. They're fun, gentle, easy to follow and low-impact. I have been enjoying the shit out of them! lol

When I first started doing the exercises along with my class a few weeks ago, I had to stop and rest every few minutes. I can now do 15 minutes straight (I do adjust some of the moves to protect my joints, but I do most of them as shown)! Richard Simmons has totally increased my endurance! This has translated to more stamina while fucking, which is also good.

I haven't seen you on here lately hug

I broke my computer. boxed

I am FINALLY getting back into the swing of things, and loving it.

Exercise can do so much to make you feel more accomplished. It's so important if just for that reason.

Nice! But how do you cope with the humidity and heat in Thailand? Or is that not a problem because you have AC at the gym? Or have you gotten accustomed to the climate now?

(and is it really that different from the humidity and heat in Florida?)

I love hot, humid weather but it makes me feel a bit weak.

Your signature falloff

lawdy.

Florida is actually sometimes a little bit hotter than Thailand.

But the humidity here is by far worse than Florida. Florida has something called the dog days of summer (late July to Mid September) which are very humid and hot. And on some days it's obviously just as hot as Thailand.

But Thailand is consistently humid minus November through Feb (and sometimes March), which are warm (ok, hot), but a bit dry.

And, yes I'm acclimated. I sometimes don't turn the A/C on all day--and this would be considered blisteringly hot for any country in Europe. But after 6 months you adjust.

As a matter of fact, I now dislike a/c, especially when I'm sleeping. I can't stand to have it on while I sleep. I have to turn it off, or else I'll wake up freezing.

I also love the feel of the air, slightly damp, after a hard rain. Some of these things would have been quite unpleasent to me before. Now, I don't mind and often enjoy them.

I think most people really hate to sweat. But after being here for so long, I sometimes don't notice that I'm sweating...and I honestly believe that it gets rid of toxins anyways. My skin has never looked better.

My signature lol Laura once told me (after I accused her of being Prince lol ) that she really doesn´t care about me. It hurt me so deeply that I´m trying to find some peace of mind by using it as my signature until she shows me some love.

The dog days are called "Hundstage" in Germany (Hund=dog, Tage=days).

I´m really happy for you that you´re doing so well in Thailand. Haven´t visited you there (yet) but I can really tell that that country is good for you, physically and spiritually.

As I said before, I LOVE LOVE LOVE hot and humid weather, and the rain in hot and humid places like Thailand. I miss Thailand and want to go there again, maybe in December.

Good place as any to brag just a tiny little bit;

Yesterday afterwork I met up with a friend at the park to do the pull ups/dips/pushups.

:drumroll:

My first three pull-ups were done completely unassisted and with good form.

Reading some of these posts just makes me feel knackered!! lol

I recently got a treadmill and started running. I'm new to it, so not sure if there's really a proper way to start but all is going well so far. I'm really rubbish at motivating myself but I shut myself in the garage, turn some music up loud and it seems to do the trick.

If anyone has any tips for a beginner, let me know! biggrin

To UptownNY : I was referring to the rest inbetween workouts, not between sets while working out, but thanks for posting your workout plan, this kinda answers my question. So you train your arms only once a week DIRECTLY and isolated, and indirectly when you do your upper body training?

A good friend of mine who kinda resembles Mr.T in his prime also works his arms only once a week directly/isolated. He told me that more than that would be too much and lead to overtraining.

I used to train them at least three or four times a week but felt like I´d overtrained most of the time.

Now that I only train them twice a week I feel much better and my arms seem to get much bigger, too.

By the way, Tamak from The Last Dragon still looks VERY cut and muscular, even more so than ever before, and he once said that overtraining is a myth but I think overtraining is a reality. wink

Right on! See, there's a whole science behind weight-training and nutrition that I didn't know in my mid-20's. Back then, I worked heavy nearly every day, didn't do cardio and wasn't eating right. I put on some size, but my body looks better now at 50(despite losing a bit of strength). I see young cats making the same mistakes I did at the gym. No need to do bicep curls with 50lb dumbells. 30lbs is the most I use, and my arms are big. Hammer curls(and close-grip chin-ups) does more for the biceps anyway. Also having big shoulders and big triceps makes your arms look big too.

Well today I bought some "Walking Sandals" by Danskin at Walmart. They were even on sale for $15.00 and they have those curvy bottoms that are suppose to shape up your legs real pretty. Anyway I have decided that I will get out of the house twice a day and go for a half an hour walk. I figure this is step one to getting in shape.

Why did this thread end up on death row?

I have actually used those sandals. On Tuesday I did not get my act together in time to get the bus downtown and do all that I needed to do there. I was so angry at myself for being so lazy. It had rained here for 3 days and I just was sluggish to the bone.

So, pissed at myself, I then forced myself to put on those damn sandals and walk a half an hour away from the house and then back home. It was not easy because there are not any sidewalks so I was walking in the grass and sand mixture that is most lawns.

The walk, in all, took me about an hour and 15 minutes and I was sore but at least I felt like I actually did something.

Yesterday I did finally take care of business downtown so I just walked around there a bit.

Today when I woke up I weighed 229 pounds. That is horrible I know but it is the first time I have been under 230 in YEARS. I seem to baloon up to 250, panic, go down to 230ish and then that is it, slowly the #'s head back up to 250 again.

I am hoping that this is a great sign that I will actually get my weight to a much healthier place. At 50 years old I am paying for that extra weight with sleep apnea, borderline diabetes, and high blood pressure. I did not have any of these issues when I weighed under 200 pounds. I am too young to be this out of shape.

What about your diet? diet is very important when trying to lose weight. I used to think as long as exercised I could keep eating whatever, it never came off. It's been over a year that I have been getting my eating in order and exercising and the pounds finally came off! Now I'm at a plateau and am trying to figure out if lowering my carb intake might help?

Don't think of it as dieting - diets come and go. Look at eating right/exercising as a lifestyle change. Small portions, 5-6 small meals a day and get all your food groups. Once a week, I'll have a pizza or cheesburger with a soda, but that's it. Half the battle to getting your body right starts in the kitchen. Moderation is key. But I'm never giving up Edy's pops and Cheez-Its. smile

I'm at 188-190 and that's the biggest I've ever been neutral

I'm getting back into dancing so I need to get the weight down hopefully back to 145 (which I was at the beginning of 2009). I've cut out soda (except for Ginger Ale occasionally) and most fast food. It's hard doing the 5-6 meals a day routine because I'm rarely hungry these days. Can I do 3 meals and have the same effect?

But your body needs fuel for those high-intensity workouts, especially if you're doing the one I posted. In between your meals, eat a healthy snack. For me, I like having a can of tuna, some fruit and a Myoplex shake pre-workout. Gives me that rush I need. Trying to keep my weight between 205-215.

And if you need a soda fix without the sodium, caffeine or calories, try Clear Choice Sparkling Water.

I have read so much on dieting. I now refuse to eat any sugar things at all. I only eat very high fiber pasta and bread too. I have eased off of cheese. I don't count calories yet. What I am trying to do is reduce what I call my "trigger foods" to as close to zero as I can. Candy, ice-cream and cookies are just not safe around me. Especially ice-cream. I keep a salad and fruit in the frig so if I want instant food I can get to it as fast as I use to get to candy.

Most people who loose 100lbs or more, that I have read about, kept a log of what they ate. Fat people like alcoholics tend to lie to themselves about what they actually consume in a day. I have not started that yet, but I should.

Do you still eat white rice, pasta and grains?

Unless your eating a very high protein diet, your body needs some carbs for energy because without them your body will feed on the protein in your body...

You should also be eating 20-35 grams of fiber per day..

I recently read this online article. Quite interesting.

'Ladies, cardio sucks for weight loss'

http://graemethomasonline...ight-loss/

Im gonna disagree here!! But I did read the article, and totally agree a person needs to do at least 1 hour (60 mins) a day to keep really fit...And it needs to be heart pounding, heavy breathing kinda cardio! I started running everyday 4+ years ago, And have yet to gain back any of the weight I have lost... I dont even eat that clean boxed

When i do weights added with the cardio I get pretty tight...But im not faithful with weights at the moment, I need to but I HATE the gym! Id rather be outside!!!

I've been very slack for 2 weeks but just going to start up again tomorrow. Just waiting to get more whey protein and creatine though.

I'm 6 ft 3 and weigh a shade over 180 lbs but want to get to 185-190 by Xmas.

My routine is a bit crap and ad hoc though, and all weights are done at home. I don't do hardly any cardio. boxed

If you're trying to GAIN weight, then I think cardio is the last thing you want to do, no?

Incline hammer curls are the best.

True, but doing no cardio is going to leave me very unfit!
