I finished this book that just kind of... I don't know... sucked! Strange thing is, its part of a long ongoing series of books and I fully expected to love it. I didn't. It took me MONTHS (literally) to read it when a book of its type usually takes a few days. But I have a bunch of books piled up that follow it and I was pretty sure I had to get the information that was in it for all of them to make sense (I was right, hugely important). Even when I finished it, though, I was like, "Shit, that sucked. What if I've just lost interest in these books?!"

I picked up the next book and read 102 pages last night and another 150 today. SO. FREAKIN'. HAPPY! lol For me, this was very cool.

OK...that's good that you are interested in the next one.

Something similar to what you described happened to me with both a Star Wars book that I've been trying to finish for about a year now, and a Dune book that is taking me months to get through.

What series are you reading?

Oh, you know, just some Star Trek books. lol One of the books from the four series that are all part of the same overall story right now.

It was the weirdest book, though. It bounced around between about twenty different locations giving you bits and pieces of information about what was going on after the Borg killed seven billion Federation citizens and were then destroyed. There was no real conflict, only a couple of mysteries that involved a couple of the locations. It was even from an author who I like, but it just never went anywhere. I kept waiting and waiting... and then I finished the book and I was pissed, because even the ending was bad. However! It did contain a HUGE bit of information that plays a major part in the next TWELVE books. rolleyes

I've never experienced something like this to this point, even with books I was forced to read in school. I just could not get into it. Thankfully I breezed through the next book in four days and started another new one this morning.

In less than a week, I'll be done with summer quarter. Then, I will have a much needed three week break smile I graduate in a year but decided to take my resume to career services at school so they could help me update it. It turned out great! In fact, they showed me a job board for work at home jobs in my field. My schooling is paid for and I am on unemployment until I graduate but that $$$$ doesn't go far.

So for shits & giggles, I applied to two part-time positions and have received responses back from both. I have testing to do but it's going to have to wait until finals are done next week. They are both fine with it! I can work and still receive my schooling paid for so we'll see what I can work out. I've already talked to the rep and my local unemployment agency about things and he gave me some good ideas. biggrin

I don't know if this counts, but on GD right now the top five threads listed are:

Post something COOL that's happened to you recently

It's so GOOD to receive a blowjob after....

If You Could Have Sex With An Orger, Who Would It Be?

random thoughts...

Balls/Testicles/Gonads Etc

It's like some pervy conversation that contains lots of other pervy conversations.

But the coolest thing that happened recently was that a friend of mine said I should run for president, and HE WAS SERIOUS.

I was like thanks, that's really cool, but no F'ing way!

Just got home.....pulled into my carport.

Friendly neighbor's cat comes to greet me (as he frequently does.......nearly jumps INTO my damned car at times he's so happy to see me). His name is "TeeJay"...loves to sleep on the hood of my Z because it's always warm lol.

Anycrap.....

I'm petting him & talkin to him a bit...lil scratch behind the ears...you know the drill.......

Sudden gust of wind come up & I shit you NOT...a crisp $100 bill blows up against the cat's HEAD.

I looked around..nobody was there......nobody saw that happen......but me bein Dudley Doright & all...I took the money to the front office in case somebody comes lookin for it.

Still tho....thought to mice elf "How many times is THAT gonna happen in your life?" lol
