Tips for booking airline flights Someone once told me that airline tickets are cheapest at midnight on Tuesdays.
Does anyone have any tips for getting the cheapest airfares?
Thanks! |

we have sites like this here
http://iwantthatflight.com.au/
they allow u to view a selection of flights at different times. different prices, different airlines
i find that the earlier u book the flight the cheaper it is, and yes often the very late flights are the most cost effective
so where r u going 2?

Thanks. I have been checking sites like Expedia US & UK. We are flying internationally and I am finding that roundtrips are cheaper than one way tickets by quite a bit. Even though two of us don't need roundtrip tickets. We also have to fly direct with no stops which adds to the cost.
I just want to make sure that I get the best deal. It is so hard to know how long to let it go before buying the tickets. We are flying in early Oct.

Yes going to get it sorted ASAP. I just find it crazy that the tickets are about $500 more than they were last year flying on almost the same exact dates.

It's simple supply and demand. The airlines are flying fewer flights and filling them completely - so the competition for seats is keener and the fares are higher. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Just called one place that we saw online a bit cheaper than buying direct from the airline. They don't have any tickets left yet still have the flight up online.
Waste of time!

Thats not always true... When we booked for california, I found if the airline wants to fill the plane closer to the take off date, the flights are cheaper... But then you run the risk of it being all booked up, or outrageous prices... There seems to be no good way to find them cheap!
I remember when we lived in germany, one of the airlines ran a buy one get one free special! My friend and I came back to the states cheap as hell! We just split the price of the first ticket... I wish theyd do that stuff again.. ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~ |

Me too! Damn! We just went ahead and booked them. It seems as though Oct is a time that lots of Brits fly to Florida because of school holidays. We cannot run the risk of waiting too late and missing out at this point. We will be going back to see my mom who hasn't seen her only grandchild since last Oct. Almost exactly a year to the day once we get back there.
Oh well, that is life I suppose.
I could just jump on a boat I guess.

Skyscanner is a handy website for planning flights - they do a price comparison on all the airlines for the route you request. |

well a friend of mine is coming to visit this week and got his ticket today. Last month when we checked flights they were $170 and today they are $300.....so I'm thinking he should've got them earlier LOL. It's hard to know, but probably 3 weeks in advance will get you good seats and good prices.... |
