Can You Get Fired For Cursing At Work?

overheard banter at a computer store.
"oh my fucken dog our maneger is so godamn bitchy, don't you fucken think he's a piece of crap. oh hell no, look at his toilet water head. when he turns to the side he even looks like a goddamn dickhead. wow!"
if i was a *sshole i could've reported this. but hey it was not directed to me and i'm sure no customers heard the conversation. but in some companies if a third party employee over-hears the aforementioned and reports it, then those two people could either get fired or written up. unfair imo. also, usuallly the person doing the reporting either does it because of a personal reason or to kiss up to management. kick out the snitch. My firm would have to close. People get chewed out on the regular. Yes, I've had my share, but from the managing partner. Everything pisses him off. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Cussing on the job where random folk can hear = hostile work environment. Unless, everyone at work cusses/curses/openly uses foul language. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

When I was a younger man, I was rather fond of my colorful vocabulary, lol. But the older that I've become, the less appropriate I find cursing in social/professional settings, regardless of the relationship that I may have with any given individual. Whether or not cursing is something you can be fired for, I would assume depends on the policies established by management.
That being said; one of the best jobs I've ever held, in regards to the camaraderie among coworkers, was with the U.S. Postal Service, where EVERYONE cursed and talked shit like a bunch of sailors, lol. The foulest characterization of no one's mother was off-limits, lol. Nevertheless, everyone got along like brothers & sisters.
